With my cane I just poke it at the guy. When he grabs it and pulls, he unsheaths the 26 inch blade, which I then use to make a mugger-kabob.

thanks much for that. HS mile run & x-country. International track meets, 5 & 10k runs. Alternate on the 1960 marathon team in Rome. Now with nothing verticle (two bulging disks) do race-walking since '63

When I was young, I played basketball and tennis. Later in college ping-pong. I won 176 games in one day. Then water skiing. I was getting ready for competition when I had the head-on collision with the semi. I was on rifle teams from the age of 11. Explorer team won national championship in 1967.

Ed's definitely the class of the athletes among us.
I was a pretty salty shortstop. That's about all I got.

The only thing I do that might be considered a sport is biking and shooting in pistol league.
From the 3rd week of last August, until the 1st week of last November, I rode 970 miles on my bike - in 15 to 20 mile increments. Weather is too bad in Illinois for winter riding - but when I get moved to Florida in about 10 days (and get settled in) I'll be riding again.
As for pistols, I usually shoot in a 12 week fall league and 12 week winter league - in large caliber (45 ACP) and small caliber (22 lr) - 50 rounds per caliber each week. My goal is to shoot 5000 a year, which I've met about 50% of the last 10 years.

I didn't keep up with miles, so I have no idea. Riding in bad weather is the best (not counting extreme heat).

I used to run/walk 5ks and such. One year I did the mount lemmon 1/2 marathon just to prove to myself I could do something. if I put my mind to to it. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Lemmon_MarathonWhen I did the half marathon it was still all up hill. I finished I didn’t place as I was just doing it for fun so wasn’t worried about but man that course kicked my arse. I also did a tough mudder en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tough_mudder one year. Was supposed to do that with my dad but he injured himself and couldn’t do it. Could barely cross the finish line I was to tired but I made it. Would I do it agian not really my thing but I’m glad I have the experience.

Played football through high school. Used to really enjoy basketball, racquetball, golf and skiing. Now in my old age it is kayaking and archery.

I spent about a decade racing mountain bikes as a semi-pro. It was all endurance courses such as the Vail 100, Brian Head 100, 24-hour races, etc. Good times but the body is feeling it as I get older. I've also done a ton of skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. Currently, a short hike with my dogs is what I enjoy most.

I was the catcher on my school's javelin squad.
I played in Little League, ran track and x-country in high school, and did some road/mountain biking. I loved pond hockey. Now I'm down to dog walks, yoga, and tai chi. I did axe throwing a couple years ago--is that a sport?

Played Hockey, was scouted by the Sabers at 15. Said no to playing Jr Hockey in Canada. Ended up playing Lax Goalie in HS and then College. Ran 30+ marathons. Ironman Hawaii 2x. 10 IM in Total. Now play ultimate frisbee on a 50+ team that's Nationally Ranked.

Darts, pool, and shooting. They pair well with smoking, and age does not prevent you from participating.
