I had 30 when this thread first started. I think think I have one less now. Gave away two and gained one. Getting ready to sell about a half dozen. I think I did have about 70 at one time. I decided I would rather have a large tobacco collection over a large pipe collection. A couple dozen pipes is plenty. Getting rid of a lot of tobacco along with downsizing the pipe stable. Heart attack and stent has slowed my smoking down a lot.

If I really like a pipe, I get multiples of it. I love the Savinelli 320 shape, sometimes called the "author" shape. I like them in KS size and especially in EX. I get multiples because I adhere to the strict discipline of one pipe one smoke one day. So if I want two bowls back to back in the same pipe, I need another pipe that is the same. So I have more than a few 320s in both KIA and EX. I would never foist my little rules on anyone, of course.

I may have a couple of cobs that match, but I don't think so. It's not a rule, but it's not a goal either. I have 2 Ron Powell pipes that are identical except the radically different colors. I guess that counts.

Texaco has a long history… I miss seeing that Star on the roadways….I stop in a Sinclair truck stop in Flagstaff, love the dinosaur and a big fan of fossil fuels… life would have sucked without them! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texaco

Remember those stations well. As a kid I thought Bob Hope owned it. They sponsored all his specials! so I assume these pipes where a giveaway with a fill up? instead of glasses and dish towels.

Where they a gas station giveaway back in the day? Thanks I believe that they were handed out by distributers. My dad was the forman of the truck drivers for a pipe manufacturing company. The salesmen, (this was the 50s), handed out things like pipes, ashtrays that were a glass rim with a rubber tire on it. Just something for the salesmen to hand out. Where'd you find yours?

We moved back to Michigan when I was seven and I distinctly remember missing seeing the dinosaur on Sinclair stations, which weren’t in Michigan. It was all Standard Oil, Mobil and Shell stations here.

I looked at my reply from a year ago, then how much my collection has swelled even since then and I think it’s going to be time for a trimming down sale this year.

I have no Idea. I have not counted my pipes. It's probably and good idea to get a count and get them down on paper. Thanks for sharing. I was going to say welcome back, but the monthly date is a few days off, and yearly off by a year.

In the words of a modern statesman “cmon man!” 😂 Yeah, I know you have been busy, exciting to see a dream realized…. Full steam ahead!
