So often in the pipe community we have someone that is a regular poster, and then after awhile one wonders...what ever happened to ______?
I would imagine that few of our wives, significant others, kids...whatever know about our pipe smoking online activity, let alone have the website, password or anything to tell us about why you dropped off. Sometimes it could be a waning of interest, but sometimes it might be a calamity that came upon you.
Recently as the head communicator for the Arizona Pipe club, I received an email..."I am tired of getting your pipe club updates, Jay died last November, remove me from your emails! I asked around the club, no one remembers Jay, and I doubt he ever attended, anyone can sign up for the email roster.
Anyway, I configured an email for the pipe club website, asked whoever responded to give an alternate contact number in case someone drops off...not to bother them, just a one time email or call so we can see if they are ok. Those that did not respond were not migrated over.
How about giving your wife your username, password, and maybe share a cell phone contact/ wife's email with one forum individual that strikes a chord with you so when the question arises..."Where in the Sam Hell is Sam?"
Just a thought...
What brought this to mind today, culling through an old thread, I saw Darktater's name...reached out to him via PM, but that depends on him being able to respond.

All kidding aside, there’s nothing worse than sending invitations etc to people who have passed away years ago only to receive nasty messages in return. Shows lack due diligence on our end.

Pete likes to drop off from time to time for a few months and I suspect that's what he's done. Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast with internet forums. I myself was absent from this forum for the better part of 2017-18. Not bad suggestions though, Charlie. I'm aware though however, that many members here connect via phone, email, PMs, and even snailmail so not all is lost except seemingly those who end up not connecting outside the forum. Maybe they want it that way. I can't tell you how many people have passed away though and we've had to try to hunt them down just find out what happened. Young guys too. At least a handful of regular posters from PipeSmokersForum and others that passed away in their 30's and 40's.

FWIW my wife has access to all my forums. Though; if I were to meet an untimely demise I doubt she would think to notify anyone here. She does have explicit instructions to contact the club if something happens so I suppose Charlie could relay to here.
Not that I'm planning to go anywhere soon. I'm only 55 so I (hope) should have quite a few more years before I take up gardening from below.
