Greetings fellow pipe smokers!
We hope that you are enjoying the weather, it is always nice to get out and take a stroll before the real heat comes our way.
But, inside smoking is always a pleasure also...😉
Pipe Club Meeting: Saturday May 13th, 12:00 PM At Madurostix in Mesa.
Pipe Night: Wednesday May 24th, 5 PM at Madurostix in Mesa
Thank you to everyone that took the time to sign up for the new email distribution list, a few slackers never did but they are always at the pipe club meetings, so I took the liberty...you know who you are...😉 No big deal, glad we got those in that wanted to remain on the list. If anyone notices a name that is missing from a semi regular attendee, that you think would like to be here, let me know and I can reach out a second time.
While digging around in the office, I ran across a plug of Walnut Flake made by Ogden's of Nottingham:

The current version is called Original Flake but both are said to be Virginia Burley based, I would like to bring the plug, and if someone has a plug of the current version of it and would like to offer it up I think that it would be fun to do a side by side blind taste test and have you record your thoughts on plug #1 and Plug #2 and see if there is a consensus on the new versus old.
A good read on the history of this tobacco: thepipeshop.co.uk/history/ogdens-original-flake/
Reach out and let me know if you have a plug that is produced by MacBaren and can bring it...if not I will put this on hold until I can round up a current version.
TIP: If you have a clay pipe or an unsmoked corncob, it might help you to be able to have a "cleaner" opinion without the taste of previous smokes.
Regardless of whether this happens at the next pipe club meeting or a future date, come ready to have some great smokes...we still have a lot of great well aged tobacco's from Rand Reed's estate that deliver a fine smoke, so there is no need to bring any tobacco...we would just like to see you there.
Have a great weekend, and if you can get out and stroll around with your pipe, do so!
Often as you smoke a pipe in public, it is not unusual to strike up a conversation with someone. I have quite a few pipe club business cards with contact info that are handy to give out, if you want any hit me up on it.
Warmest Regards,
Arizona Pipe Club
