Just an FYI for those who may be interested, Tobaccopipes has a number of GH rope tobaccos back in stock. Prices have gone up, I’m not surprised thought.

I remember thinking how expensive brown bogie was in the past… glad I cellared a bunch.
If I had not spent so much on ammo recently, I might be tempted.

The other place, cliquemagazine just had someone sell 20oz for $90 of SG. It appears that was a steal by these new prices.

I don’t need to ever buy another tin of tobacco, in fact it is silly to even entertain such a notion. I am just easily tempted.

I would like to comment on the Gawith Hoggarth's Black Irish X
It was hard to keep it from going out. Not knowing what I was doing here I tried to cut it up with my pocket knife then pack it in the bowl. Then I cut off an inch and set that down into the bowl which worked ok. I did fined that after it dried out just a bit, it did burn better. (about two weeks on the shelf) It was still hard to keep lit. I liked the flavor though. (a little strong but real good)
I was not doing something correct here I guess. I am spoiled with both ribbon and cube cuts that pack and burn so well.

I typically use a cigar cutter to slice the coins from rope, as it is easier than using a knife. Since I live in Arizona and it is pretty hot and low humidity, I can lay it out in the sun, the concrete patio is basically a baking stone, and check it every 5 minutes. On a paper towel in the microwave works well also, 10-15 seconds. You can always do 5 second increments to get it where you want, I dry it to right where it starts to feel crunchy on the outer coin. Too dry and (I think) it can rob some flavor. Even with several years on my Brown Bogie in the Mason jar, it is too moist to smoke right out of the jar. I use the same methods for some wet flakes/ tinned and jarred coins also, they dry really quick.

Likely just smoking it far too wet. Cut it into fine shag with a knife or with scissors and then sit it out to dry for about two hours.

I'm a little loathe to try rope twist tobacco a second time. Many years ago, I got a package from an acquaintance of mine. I don't recall the manufacturer...some rum twist from Tennessee, IIRC. I broke off a piece, crumbled it into a clay pipe and fired it up. By the time I got half way through the bowl, I couldn't figure out why the ceiling was beginning to rotate. By the time I was nearly through the bowl, I thought I was going to lose my breakfast.

Rum Twist smells and tastes like burning tires and diesel.

I've been wanting to try these twists for a while but with the prices and availability issues I keep putting it off.
