You had pretty cool parents. My dad almost killed himself on an Indian motorcycle back in the forties, so he said "we will never have a motorcycle in our driveway"... all my motocross was done on my neighbors bike.
Wish my dad would have warehoused that old Indian for me.

I once got such an oversized knee when I was so dumb to buy an XLCH Harley Kicksportster. The kicker never hit me back but the bike was notorious for kicking into "empty space". I had micro cracks in my knee after that. After all they say that the "CH" stands for "charlie horse"...

Nope. Male parental hadn't started speaking to the kids yet, and is a womanizer, attempted murderer, child molester and full blown psychopath. Female is insane; I could just talk her into anything, no discipline ever and lots of emotional abuse. Horrible people actually.
My only dirt bike experience was a summer with my cousin up in Berrien Springs, MI. My car was a red Honda 175 dirt bike and it was awesome. There was a nest of dirt bike trails near the house in the woods, with jumps and berms and everything. The only problem was the trees - screw up and you hit one, so the riding was pretty tame and not quite ESPN material.
The college had a steep dirt hill that bikers would try to climb, so the admins put a metal gate half way up to stop us. You had to get a full head of steam and just squeeze by the gate to make it to the top. If your bike fell over, you slid to the bottom.
I never made it past the gate; my excuse was it wasn't my bike, but the truth was it was scary!

Can't ride anymore, Balance problem, Son says sell it, I say it's paid for and I sometimes go in the barn and look at it like a fine painting. There is a solution. This is what I ride. I will post some pics of my previous bikes if I can get them off Photobucket. I highly recommend Motor Trike. There isn't much cooler than a Valkyrie trike!

I didn't lie... I can't see any of your photos for some reason, Don. What do you have? Here's my recent upgrade from a 1993 Vulcan 1500 to a 2006 Goldwing 1800:
Very nice, Darin. I have a 1992 Vulcan 1500, but haven't ridden in several years. Unfortunately, I don't have any digital photos handy.

I traded in the Sportster last fall for this. 2017 Can-Am Spyder RT. Only had it 4 days and headed out on the 1900 mile trip to AZ. Justt rode it back a few weeks ago to Chicago. I’m really enjoying it. If your thinking 3 wheels as you get older, I would check one out. The little woman is much happier crossing the country on this one, than on the 2002 BMW K1200LT.

I'm not a motorcycle person, but can appreciate the beauty of many bikes, mainly because I have a friend in Mich. who has been riding for over 30 years. He's usually found on a Ducati as he has been involved with MotoGP racing for years. But he recently sent me this pic of a bike he just bought. I think he said it was a 2014 BMW 6cyl. Looks to be as heavy as his wife's little BMW electric car behind it. Not a racing bike, but a sports touring bike? Looks pretty cool I have to admit!

I don't know much about bikes either, but I know a nice bike when I see one... That looks like a nice bike to me.

Are you guys gonna mercilessly mock me if I post a pic of my scooter? And btw I just have to say, simnettpratt , it takes a hell of a lot of personal courage and radical acceptance to write something like that about your parents - let alone to share it on a public forum. There is such a social stigma to telling negative truths about parents, and people who had a good, supportive, stable, loving upbringing often just don't get it. My wife's mother is the devil incarnate, but people seem more horrified that's my wife decided to cut her out of her life than they are at the lifelong pattern of abusive behavior.

Your happy and your enjoying your ride. I take grief from some for 3 wheels. Oh well I’m happy!

I'm going to throw in just one more from my friend in Mich. A couple of years ago he sent me this pic saying that it was their Christmas tree that year. Man, he's got great wife, and she doesn't have a problem with his motorcycle stuff. But this year she's getting the kitchen of her dreams.

My wife's parents were unbelievably bad. We could probably fill up a whole forum with horrible parents stories. (It got lucky, thank God)

Love it. Here's my bike porn: a custom Bonneville that sold for 'only' $20,000. Yes, it's called the Steve McQueen Special. Mmmm... You have great taste.

Reminds me of a company picnic back in the 90’s. Kenny was quite a throwback... had his homemade trike... big Elvis fan he had the pork chop sideburns and the hair. Rolled up wearing a red cape with the BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive) phrase TCB and the lightning bolt on it (Taking Care of Business)... a phrase Elvis adopted for his crew. The corporate exec was a major knucklehead that was a major jerk and had an imported BMW 733i? Kenny was oblivious to the fact that his rooster tail burnouts were rusticating the Beamer....
