It’s ugly and the price is a joke.

For 8000 dollars one can find a much better pipe or pipes, even opt for a very nice collection of pipes and tobacco to last quite a while. Still, let's say one collects high end pipes. There are a number of noted world class carvers whose pipes are much better looking, better executed/designed etc. at prices equal to or less than the one advertised above. A number of these other pipes will not depreciate too much, maintain or increase in value over the years. I can see this one dropping significantly in the high end market.

I suppose there are people who might buy it. So why not put a ridiculous price on it (at first) to see if there any suckers takers. If anybody’s interested, you can have one of my limited edition prints for $250,000. (delivery included.)

It's kinda neat that the body of the pipe is hollow leather, and maybe part of the price is all the gold wire? But yeah, poor guy's first calabash pipe is a modern art mockery of the tried and true gourd calabash. Like most celebrity relics, the price seems to be more about the story behind the item and not its aesthetic or functional qualities. 🏄🦈
