Another nice find John. I’ve Not seen this shape before. What would be the approximate date of it? The much older Grabow pipes appear to be made better than the newer ones. Somehow they have more character. Just saying... I believe it's a 65 shape. Somewhere between a Zulu and a Dublin. My favorite Grabow shape. Top-notch Dr. G! A Zublin? Dublun? Doubloon?

2022 Cringle Flake in a self-made, smooth "55". Getting to the end of the bowl of Cringle Flake. Good stuff! I've been doing the fold and stuff method the last 3 bowls of flake, with a little bit of kindling with stray crumbs on top. Seems to be working well. Makes for a very long smoke.

That's why I like fold-and-stuff so much. And flakes.

Smoking some Haunted Bookshop in a Dr. Grabow Eldorado this evening. My brother found this pipe in an old barn out in Wyoming and brought it back to me to restore. It belonged to a friend of my Dad many years ago. Another nice find John. I’ve Not seen this shape before. What would be the approximate date of it? The much older Grabow pipes appear to be made better than the newer ones. Somehow they have more character. Just saying... John, I think it is from the late 1950's or 1960's, but I could be wrong.

Good Saturday Morning! It's 42° here and rain is on the way. This afternoon I have a couple of phone calls to make and then install the new wi-fi router. Getting the smoking day going with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Savinelli Venera 128 smooth billiard and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my jacket. Have a great weekend everybody!

My usual routine...just lit up a bowl of Christmas Cheer in the Sav smooth billiard while watching another streaming episode of Endeavour on PBS while occasionally sipping my coffee.

Good Morning Again! It's still 42° here and raining. Although I haven't been out of the workshop, I'll take the AccuWeather app update to be the case. Finishing up this bowl of Christmas Cheer and next will be Scottish Flake in the Savinelli smooth billiard. Time to sip some more coffee and check the headline news.

Happy Eve of Christmas Eve! Preparations have begun in the kitchen here. Started the day with a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Saturday cob and coffee. I'll be helping my wife with stuff, then we'll go out and let someone else cook for us.

Sutliff Eccentric in my little meer tomato (SMS). Coffee at my elbow.
Ex-wife gave me this pipe when I finished my Master's degree. It's still my favourite without undue sentimentality.

Having Plum Pudding in a basket bent billiard that smokes like it cost me $150. Sometimes you find a hidden gem in some of them basket pipes! I have had some beater looking pipes that performed like a finely tuned McLaren...internals play more of a role than externals. Obviously, it is nicer when both are 10's on a scale of 1 to ten, but sometimes aesthetically a 10 can be a 3 on smokeability. Less prone to happen with artisan pipes in both regards... but factory pipes graded in yesteryear I think were graded more on aesthetics. I might be wrong, that happened once.

2020 Cringle Flake, this could have been easily my single cellared smoke for life, if it smoked this way to my eternal rest.
