We toured two distilleries in middle Tennessee this weekend - Nearest Green and Prichard's. Last night I drank some rum that I bought from Prichard's distillery. It is excellent!

Sipping on a bit of this. Herbal, slightly bitter, and nutty. I get a bit of a mouth numbing effect. The overall flavor profile is unlike anything I have ever tasted alcohol wise. It does remind me a bit of the Greek and Turkish walnut preserves I love. I want to try a lighter beer like a Pilsner with a shot added to it. Seems like it would work. Interesting. I have to say a "green walnut liqueur" doesn't sound appealing, but I'll take your word for it.

Opened a bottle of 'Old Vine' Zinfandel tonight, to go with a stuffed pork loin. Better than 'good enough', nice flavor, but won't buy it again - no 'complexity'.

I'm guessing it's nothing like almond liquor? (Ameratto)

I've eaten green walnuts before. Not a great taste, but still, this sounds interesting.

Unfortunately, a strawberry watermelon frozen daiquiri that's been in the freezer for 3 years. It sounded good at the time. Had to clean out the the freezer. Not recommended.

After dinner, my son broke out a couple bottles for tasting. First was High West whiskey from Utah. Then we had a tast of Evan Williams 2013 Single Barrel. The High West cost 2 1/2 times more than the EW, and tasted 2 1/2 times better. Re-setting my taste buds at home with Redbreast 12.

I think their famous label is Midwinter Night's Dram. That stuff is incredible. And kinda expensive and hard to get.

I hear all kinds of wonderful things about foreign Bourbon. (not made in Kentucky) I set myself a rule years ago to simplify my life. I only drink Kentucky Bourbon. I have had samples of the others, but none have impressed me. This includes some Texas "bourbons" that carry an extremely high price. If Kentucky doesn't make it, I don't drink it.
