Not in the glass just yet, but I just got home from the liquor store with a bottle of Redbreast 15. Also a restock of OF 1920 and Bardstown #9, and a quartet of Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout. I don't drink much, so a bottle lasts a long time and I can get away with a splurge now and then. Really looking forward to trying that Redbreast. I wish I was there.

Now I've got some Redbreast 15 in my glass. It is definitely more oily and rich than the 12. It has a decidedly apple odor and flavor, to me; not too different from what I remember Jameson 18 being like, but that was a long time ago. It is smoother and has more flavor than I remember that, though. Based on a single neck pour, I'd recommend it.

I think it was 18 years old. Went back to buy another and they didn't make it anymore.

Had a double-shot of espresso after dinner. Probably a bad idea. Now, a bit of Baker's 7.

My Dad had some in his basement bar. It's an old school thing, for sure. Dated. Nice on a cold evening, though. Currently having Bardstown #9 (a.k.a., my birthday bourbon). Still excellent.

Laird's Applejack. There is not enough fruit in the to be called Apple Brandy but enough for a hint of flavor. I cannot afford Calvados so this has to do. A favorite of H.L. Mencken some years ago. I believe this label to be the oldest distillery in the USA. They used to produce a straight apple brandy bottled in bond but seldom seen here abouts.

My Dad had some in his basement bar. I still have the first bottle I ever bought, back around 1978 or so. It's good in some cocktails that I rarely drink. I also have a bottle of Benedictine, purchased on the same trip. It was originally a medicinal tonic, and tastes like it.

I have a mostly full bottle of that I bought because of raves by Ruffinogold. It's not very good to me. I have tried to use it up in cocktails, but I like it best in orange juice with a dash of grenadine. It's been at least 5 years since I looked at it.

They drink applejack at raves?
