There is a can of Chef Boyardee Raviolis in my pantry. Sometimes, I just have to have them. CBRD is comfort food. Mini Ravioli, Beefaroni, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and Alfredo regularly appear in my pantry. I keep shredded Parmesan on hand to top it with.

I actually ate a can about 30 years ago and it was OK. I think it's something that you have to grow up with to really enjoy it. I had a boss in the 70s that talked about the ones he got from roadside stands when he was a kid in Georgia. It's was just OK. Not nearly as bad as I expected. My family says they will leave if I try to get them to try it. My wife goes through a big bag of salted peanuts every week.

I made beef liver last night, smothered in onions and floating in a thick white gravy with just the right amount of crushed black pepper...sides were white corn on the cob, and stir-fried yellow squash with gold potatoes and onions diced up in them...makes me glad I'm by myself tonight, so I can eat up the leftovers!

My wife and I learn boiled peanuts from a road side stand in coastal South Carolina. We were driving from Hilton Head to Savannah and kept seeing a bunch of boiled peanut places. We got curious and stopped for some. We loved them. The canned ones aren’t as good, it there are no boiled peanut roadside stands in Michigan. When we were driving through Georgia on our way to Florida last month, we made a point of stopping for some boiled peanuts. The secret to good boiled peanuts is the brine.

Never a big fan of liver as a kid...fresh liver culled from a deer...whole 'nuther story...tasty! When I lived in California, five of us stayed at a buddy's house to go fishing up at Susanville's eagle Lake, he lived in Oroville, about a 3 hour trek. Mike shot a deer early while we were sleeping at his house...we woke up to a 30.06 bark from his back door... "You never had liver like this" Mike told us....we ate fresh liver and onions for breakfast with beer. "I just want to warn you...this will really give you gas" Mike warned us...man, he was not kidding. Liver and onion/ beer farts could probably be considered type 2 inhalation hazard on the Department of Transportation guidelines...a Suburban ride on that that trip with four guys hanging their heads out the window, we looked like a bunch of coon hounds going for a ride!...cousin Greg was in the middle of the second row...he died a few years ago, I think that experience was a precursor. Moral of the story: Dig into the fresh venison liver, digest/rest in a well ventilated area.

I mean I'd try it. Haven't had liver out side of a pate in a very long time. I do have a funny story about it when I was a infant my mom bought liver baby food apparently i made the biggest look of disgust she ever saw and promptly spit it back on her. I do like liver wurst so I'd probably like liver and onions if it was properly prepared.

Panda Express… pretty good. For about $16 the wife and I were able to share chow mein, broccoli beef, kung pao chicken and 2 egg rolls. And plenty of leftovers.
Free ubereats offer, hard to beat.

I do like liver wurst so I'd probably like liver and onions if it was properly prepared. If you like liverwurst you would probably like liver. When we were kids our moms cooked it to death and we got strongly flavored boot leather. If it sliced thin it only needs a couple of minutes on each side and after you make the onion gravy, you put it back in and simmer it for about 30 minutes. It has a rich and non-gamey flavor.

Finally finished the Julia F'n Child Beef Bourguignon, all 30 steps. And she calls it French country stew. 35 dollars in ingredients and 3 days to make. But it was guuuudd! 😋
