Yay! I now have an inguinal hernia. I think it began becoming apparent a few months ago, but I didn’t recognize the slight bulging as anything serious and forgot about it, because it was so slight. This week it got bad. Got almost as big as my closed fist yesterday. Now it actually is causing me pain. It subsides when I lay down of course. My 4 mile a day walking regimen is not possible as of today. Calling the doc in the morning. A friend at work gave me the overview of how they repair it and what to expect. Seems pretty simple and very routine. Best of luck with getting it repaired, Don.

Not trying to scare you, but get the answers upfront.

It should be a fairly routine procedure, Don. We will keep you in our prayers.

I don’t want to make light of it, it’s abdominal surgery after all, but both of my repairs went well with minimal downtime.

I was scheduled to give some training this morning, so I had to get to bed a lot earlier than normal, last night. I took my sleep med way early and did everything I could sleep hygiene-wise to make sure nothing would delay my sleep onset. I actually got to sleep around 11pm. Yay! But then I woke up at 3am and couldn't get back to sleep. And then all the training sessions before mine ran long this morning and my presentation got delayed to tomorrow. Less yay.

I can never fall asleep earlier than my normal midnight to 1am. Then, if I have an alarm set to wake up earlier than normal, I have trouble falling asleep knowing that I have to get up early. I feel your pain on the reschedule. I do a lot of meetings with Europe which runs 6 hours ahead of me. Too many times I've gotten up early to make it to a 8am EDT meeting only to find out that the meeting got rescheduled during the European work day while I was still asleep. My whole rhythm gets thrown off for the day as a result.

My presentation has finally been given an actual time slot. (I wouldn't have minded if they just decided to skip me altogether.) I'll be running on about 6 hours sleep in the past 48, so I'll probably end up standing there drooling and reciting my phone number for an hour.

You are a thoughtful and organized mind. I hope your audience is patient enough to hear what you have to say before they start throwing questions interrupting the presentation.

The title of your presentation, if you can tell us? Microservices & Single Page Applications: Why are we adopting this architecture?
Presentation went fine. I normally wouldn't be much concerned about making presentations. The fact I was doing it pretty sleep-deprived was all that worried me. Wasn't sure my brain would be quick enough to answer questions. (I opened the floor to questions as I completed each slide, John.)

As long as you invited them. I can recall getting into the second sentence before the questions flew. Impatience!

So glad it worked out. Sometimes performance can be improved by a little fatigue, both mental and physical. Ask a Marine..

Well, that was thoroughly unpleasant. When it was over, the tech told me it's the 2nd worst MRI to do. The elbow is the only one more uncomfortable. But, it's over. Hallelu.

Well? Did they understand and accept the scaling, performance, reliability, and maintainability gains to be had by doing so? 🤔
