Not until I moved to Arizona, and on a return trip from California to Arizona did I discover the eastern side of the Sierras. There is some beautiful country once you get south of Mono Lake.

GE Profile appliances that can burn down your home and look good while doing it. Noticeably absent from the new version is the self-clean feature. It has the steam clean option which was one of the options on the previous one. This new one is a beaut, loaded with features.

Hey man, we have pitbull pups all over the street here. I could put one in a box and send it to you. They are really good for top coating the asphalt. I am only in the market for small dogs like a replacement Chihuahua low maintenance and cute and lovable that will be over ten pounds and under twenty pounds. Pitbulls need not apply being poor and white do not want to add trash into my demographic. Feel free to run over a Pitbull or two for me before it mauls some poor innocent child or takes off someone's face.. Sincerely the Lizard I haven't hit any yet, but I at least 2 a week seems to be average around town. Want a Yorkie that just ruined an 11x16 oriental rug? She's high maintenance and gets sick over the least thing. Oops, she saw what I typed. I'm in deep sheise!

We've had several fantastic days in a row. Unfortunately I spent the day inside working on the entertainment center network and trying to sort out 2 messed up TVs. Thinking about getting an 86 inch TV so I can can read the subtitles.

Chihuahua’s seem to be the breed most likely to try to bite me.
We have a no tolerance policy on going into homes with unrestrained pets, but we get rural deliveries with dogs running loose… always the chihuahua that will try to bite me if I turn my back to them.

Man do I ever miss Rocksie no one to share bites of food with. You know for a Chihuahua she was never a yapper but she would stand behind me in the face of danger with the hair on here back standing up and teeth bared. If she didn't like someone you knew they were a piece. She knew how to share with other dogs. She never let me out of her sight but she was sneaky like ninja. I placed a small picture of her on my computer desk. Ron you should get the giant TV and Hoover makes great carpet cleaners for dog woes. Charlie the back side of the Sierras is amazing from Mount Whitney over looking Death Vally and the John Muir trail that takes you through the high passes all the way into Yosemite valley. Enjoy your new stove and hope it does not go nuts waking you up at three AM . I dont think I missed anything.

I read a FB post from a friend of mine that lives in Long Island, NY and he wanted to know if anyone else felt the earthquake. What earthquake? There was a 4.8 magnitude quake this morning with the epicenter located in northwestern NJ that was felt throughout the region. NJDan , what was is like down your way? Hi Russ, I didn’t really feel it at all down this way. By chance, a good old friend of mine visited for dinner last night; he’s a professor of geology at a NJ state university. I asked him about the quake, and he mentioned that a local tv station asked him for a quick interview but he declined since he had dinner plans, lol….it was not a big deal at all according to him. Perhaps closer to epicenter it was a bigger deal, but I feel like its impact was a bit overhyped.

I have been bitten by a bunch of Chihuahuas. My aunt and cousins had them when I was very little and they bit me every time I visited. My uncle that lived with us had 2, but we ignored each other. The worst was after I was invited to come through the window into my girlfriend's bedroom. I had one leg inside when I felt a sharp pain in my ankle, followed by a hollering grandpa with a shotgun. I was scarred for life. Since then, we've had mostly friendly relations.

I'm just a little bit mad at her, but I will burn the rug and move on. The east side of the Sangre de Christo mountains is very nice too. Very comfortable area. My buddy lives on the east side of Sandia Peak and we love it there. Just can't afford it.

Just got a 85 inch Samsung Ron, love it! Around 1991, I brought home a RCA 55 inch projection TV and I loved it. You could have 6 separate stations on the screen at one time and pick any one or cycle through them. You could pause the screen and zoom in 2x on any part of it. The wife got home from work and had a fit. She said it was overwhelming and she couldn't stand it. I returned it and got a 35 inch flat screw tube console. Man that thing was heavy! Anyway, at her request, we later had a 60 and a 65 inch projection TVs. Those Mitsubishi TVs were great, but time marches on. Our small den TV is a 58",and the living room is a 70". She is quite open to the 86". We will be thinking hard about it.

“ The east side of the Sangre de Christo mountains is very nice too.”
Yeah my mom’s family is from the Arkansas river valley onthe east side of the Sangre De Cristo mtns… all through my life we drove to grandma’s house and it was beautiful, but we never ventured beyond it.
This last year, I visited my uncle that lives near Cotopaxi and he took us into Westcliff, and all the range with all the ranches just down the road…. My oh my.
Grandmas property was nice, but nowhere near as nice as where the white folk lived.

Years ago a friend of mine told me that his girlfriends folks returned a day ahead of what they said they were coming back before Christmas. Didn’t hear them come home until mom descended down the basement stairs and screamed. My buddy at the time jumped up from making the beast with two backs, and he said her mom glared at his erect member.. He high tailed it out of there, later married and probably still are but he sure gave mom in law a December to remember.

High winds warning for today, tonight, and parts of tomorrow. 65 mph predicted. Specific warnings about powerline failures. Hoping they’re wrong again as they are more than half of the time they predict disasters. But the signs aren’t good with a constant 10 mph wind out of the east. Always a bad omen.

72 at the moment, going up to 83. I can't get the belt back on the new mower, so I'm trying to get the old one going. Haven't started it in 2 years. The battery charger says it was at 90%,but I left it charging anyway. Off to get gasoline for the mowers and the generator, cause you never know.

Cool.
Didn't want to do a welfare check if we did not hear from you...Helluva drive.
One of our pipe club members just bought a home in the mountains, got a Generac for his home. I believe he said that if power goes out and his propane tank is full, he can go 900 days...he has a background where details carry the day...so if he says so, he has it dialed in. and...Preparedness is in his DNA.

It clears the mind most admirably when you live where the weather can kill you, and often seems to be trying to. Of course, that’s actually true everywhere – since we’re all just insects to Mother Nature – but most people in urban America don’t think much about it.

Windy here, too. I had a fight with the barn doors while feeding the animals. Each door is about twelve feet high and a good eight feet wide. They are like sails in the wind. I have a rope on each of them secured to the building when open.
Good photo of Bob in the new Avatar, eh?

Had to get a new battery for the old mower, but it started right ip up with fresh gas. Unfortunately, the belt is off that one too. So, I will probably have to hire a brushhog when the rain is past and the yard dries up.

Unless he’s got a hell of a propane tank, I doubt that number. We have a 22kwh Generac whole house generator with automatic cut over. When we got it, I asked our propane guy how long it could run for. We have an 800lb tank which means they'll fill it to 600lb (or is it gal?). He told me at a full generator load and a full propane tank, I’d be good for about 3 1/2 days. I’m never going to put the generator at full load. Even if every appliance was running, we’d only be drawing maybe 12 to 14 kWh. (Stove, furnace, and dryer are gas). So, I’d say a week max is realistic with the size of propane tank we have. A generator is must have when living rural. Especially since no electricity means no water since our well pump is electric. No water means wife is not happy…
