In your defense, hardly anyone had heard of Eva Cassidy before she died. She had put out a record or maybe two, but they didn't go anywhere. She was basically just known around the D.C. club scene. After she passed, a DJ in the UK ran across her version of "Over the Rainbow", played it on the air, and it went stratospheric. Suddenly, she was a posthumous musical phenomenon. Yeah, I just read that. I've been listening to her on YouTube since I saw the post. Danny Boy at the moment. Amazon 6th best selling artist 10 years after she died. My wife gets upset because I tear up about these women who don't get the break they deserve. Hanna Stone killed herself at 16 because of a beef with a Tictoc rapper. Humans are wretched. Can be, anyway.

I will have to skip it.

Doesn't help that she is...who she is. Amazing what people will fawn after, and worship.

I made it through the whole song Turbocat and almost forgot about the grueling minute of Miss Swift.

I actually prefer their mixed choir, but the male choir is no joke and that's what I've been listening to this evening.

Declaration of Irrelevancy: I have never heard a single piece of music by Beyoncé, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, etc., etc. That is all…

Declaration of Irrelevancy: I have never heard a single piece of music by Beyoncé, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, etc., etc. That is all… Same here. I heard that a guy named Usher is doing the super bowl half time show. The 30ish something news co-anchor said he does not know a single usher song. His colleague, a woman found that unbelievable she named some of Usher’s song titles….. nope, nope, nope..

Never had ANY interest in pop entertainers. Or much contemporary “music” at all. I’m mystified by the fascination the larger public seems to feel for these sketchy people and the theory that they somehow are worth quoting about world affairs or much of anything else for that matter. This Taylor Swift mania is the sign of a sick culture— or maybe no culture at all.

This Taylor Swift mania is the sign of a sick culture— or maybe no culture at all. When they preach their stuff to the masses on choices the rest of society should make, and hypocritically do the opposite…excuse themselves because writing a check to a questionable entity absolves them, yeah they race to the top of the ignore list regardless of perceived talent.

This Taylor Swift mania is the sign of a sick culture— or maybe no culture at all. All music other than Gregorian chant was pop music at one time. Mozart was the biggest pop star ever. Good music will stand the test of time. Remember when Britney was the thing? Justin Beiber? Saw a local country/bluegrass band that's been touring for 44 years. Good music lasts.

Another Texan--from Austin--Sarah Jarosz. That instrument she is playing is an octave mandolin--in this case, a guitar bodied octave mandolin. It is a bit larger than a regular mandolin and tuned an octave lower. She has become something of a superstar in the world of Americana/folk music.
