I have several of each. I enjoy and use both. Mas is always a good read. He knows what he is talking about.

The Ayoob files are invaluable on informing citizens as he delves deep onto the details of a shooting, what was done right, what was done wrong, and great advice.
Quite the visionary on self defense in modern society!

Excellent article, Charlie. Very well done. My recommendation for a new shooter looking for a home defense gun is still a 4” 38 Special revolver. YMMV.

Excellent article, Charlie. Very well done. My recommendation for a new shooter looking for a home defense gun is still a 4” 38 Special revolver. YMMV. A good one to start out on. Still requires practice to master the DA trigger. Years ago, a neighbor emptied a S&W Model 10 at a drug dealer king pin who was in his car. Range about ten feet. All six shots missed the guy. Prime example of not mastering that trigger and DA firing.

I prefer a striker fired semi-auto, Ruger SR9c as I can shoot it very well, it conceals very well, and I have never had a failure to feed.

You’re not exactly a “new shooter.” ANothe candidate for a starter might be a Keltec PMR-30.

I had an SR9 (not the compact) and it was incredibly reliable as well. I gave it to my brother after he retired and moved back here from another state. Since I had to replace the empty spot in the gun safe, I decided to fill it with another Ruger. It seems I have more 1911s than anything else--and for me it is the most comfortable gun to point and shoot. And they are pretty things too!!!

No more dangerous than any other. Having 30 rounds doesn’t mean you have to shoot ‘em all. Low recoil can help make good accurate hits.

The only ones I have shot didn't suit me. Even my LCP is hammer fired. I don't have any problem with them in theory. My favorite action is the double action/single action auto. I never had any problems with the change in pull. If I'm shooting targets, I simply rooster it. I also prefer double action revolvers. I like having the choice. My New Year's resolution is to actually shoot all of my guns this year.

Sold them all after my first wife and I started fighting all the time. 2 Colt GCNMs, one Colt 1970 Government, a nickel plated Llama with pearl grips,(the wife's) and a Star. Now I have a Tisas stainless Duty and a Star Model B.

Is that a Milt Spark’s holster, William? Sharp looking pistol, and rig! Thanks. It is a George Bowers holster. Not sure if he is still making holsters, but I have several of his.

I aaked because Milt Sparks teamed with Ruger for some holsters, and mag holders and yours looks very similar, both have put out great products.
