As I've posted here before, MM 965 is probably my favorite blend. I only have 1 unopened tin and one about half way gone. But I also have 3 mason jars full of P&C MM 965 Match (counterfit) that I actually probably enjoy more than the actual Dunhill. This evening I was making my nightly visit to P&C and loading up my shopping cart when I made a startling discovery. Not only is Dunhill MM 965 on backorder, but so is their Match MM 965!  What's goin on here? |

I don't know what's going on with the backorders, but thanks for turning me on to P&C's Match line! I didn't know they had that. London Mixture may be my favorite tobacco ever, and that's one of their match tobaccos, plus they have a Standard Mixture match, the real blend being one I have to try  Sweet! If either of those fake blends are anywhere near as tasty as the real stuff, they will be a steal at 8oz for $12.40. BTW, last month I got to order a bag of D&R Three Sails from P&C, placed the order online Sunday night, it shipped the next day, and arrived in my Texas mailbox on Wednesday. The PO even hustled, picking up a package from a Pennsylvania warehouse on Monday, and putting it on the Dallas delivery truck early Wednesday morning. |

people are probably stocking up, causing the shortfalls, because rumor is that Dunhill Tobaccos will be discontinued next year.

Hoarders would be my guess as British American Tobacco is planning to cease offering Dunhill cigars and pipe tobacco. The process underway will take approximately 12-18 months to complete. Supposedly, that'll be it unless somebody else picks up the line in which case quality is anybody's guess?
Given their significant following, I'd say get them now where you can find them. I've already loaded up on my own favorite Dunhill offering, Dunhill Flake.

Every year P&C has a big sale on Bulk Dunhill blends (Nightcap, 965, Early Morning Pipe) I never got a P&C calendar this year to check the months ahead...maybe someone can chime in that has one.
Regardless, if you see a product backordered at P&C, you can call, place an order and they will hit your debit/credit card when the stock comes in...they just did that for me when they had the Dunhill tin sale. Ordering a backordered product online cannot be done.
It would be interesting to try that with the unobtanium blends that sell out before you can get to your email.

Yup, those seeking to stock up before it goes away. P&C has used this tactic in the past and will do so many times again I am sure. Remember that big sale they did at the cut off date for new blends from the FDA thing. WOW! that place was out of everything.
