Back in the early 1970s I knew an officer in a small town in northern California used to carry a Johnson Rifle in the trunk of his cruiser. He showed it to me once. The only time I have seen one. Interesting rifle. I liked how the magazine can be fed without opening the breech. Sounds like Humboldt County to me 😉

Jim Cirillo in his book "Tales Of The Stakeout Squad" really trashed the S&W model 76 submachine gun. "It was a copy of the Swedish K, but that was a beautiful gun; this one was a piece of shite. You couldn't put soft nosed bullets in it, it would malfunction. We had to use full patch bullets. And a lot of times they would go off before the ammo was fully chambered; you would actually see the brass blow out." The M1 carbines they used was one of the most favorite firearms of the team...Winchester 110 grain expanding bullets going 1,800-1,900 FPS were real man stoppers and having 15-30 rounds on tap was handy. They had a great armorer, and any confiscated M1's were cut down to 12'', folding stock, pistol grip. Holy crap! No borrowing my copy. www.abebooks.com/9781581606492/Jim-Cirillos-Tales-Stakeout-Squad-1581606494/plp?ref_=ps_ms_267691761&cm_mmc=msn-_-comus_dsa-_-naa-_-naa&msclkid=31d5d61fd0e61f48974db0188913de9a
