Do you use filters? What were your experiences or are your experiences using them?

No, I'm not a filter fan because I feel they restrict the draw. I have a pair of Savinelli Venere 128s that came with filters and adapters, but I tossed them. The draw is wide open, but I control that with my smoking cadence.

No filters here.

I use the balsa filters in my Savinelli 320s. The draw is fine with them. I don’t like how they smoke without them. Those are my only filtered pipes other than a few cobs that are filter pipes that I don’t use a filter in.

I have a Brigham that uses “Rock Maple Distillators.” They restrict the draw just enough to be annoying. I seldom use them.

I can take them or leave them. I haven't used one in at least 3 years. I do like the Savinelli balsa filters with some tobaccos.

What is a filter with some tobaccos inquiring minds want to know?

Never saw the need. Kind of like drinking watered down beer like Bud Light. What is the point of drinking beer? Gimme an iced tea!

I can only echo the thoughts of many others here. No filters. I want every bit of the smoke the tobacco produces. I use a chunk of meerschaum in the bottom of my briar pipes for moisture reduction, I don’t think of that as a filter, it doesn’t reduce the quantity or quality of the smoke.
I got an estate Stanwell a while back that came with a box of 9mm filters. I tried one out of curiosity, it was like “smoke light” and not very satisfying.

I’ve had 9mm filter pipes before and did not like that kind of filter at all. It is just the Savinelli balsa that is ok for me in the two 320s I have. They do trap a fair bit of moisture from wetter blends, let a lot of smoke past because they are triangular in cross section and to my palette, don’t add any odd flavor or detract from what I can taste.

Do you use filters? What were your experiences or are your experiences using them? No, I don't. I think the word, if it is a word, that sums up my experience is underwhelming. If that isn't a word, then perhaps unimpressive will do.
