I spent most of yesterday trying to reach my pharmacy in town, 45 miles away, the check if they filled the script for antibiotics to be taken today ahead of surgery. No answer. The Surgeon's office tried most of the day. No answer. Sent my Ex over to check and the pharmacy was closed owing to computer problems. That is expected. What is not forgivable is the lack of a message to their phone. That is Smith's Food and Drugs. I called the corporate customer number and gave them stern advice about responsibility. I was assured this would be escalated to a higher echelon which may or may not happen.
Then, I had the Surgeon's office resend the script to Albertson's pharmacy. While it was received they would not release the meds to my Ex since the MD's office added the words "Not to be taken until Feb.8". The pharmacy computer system interpreted this to mean do not fill until Feb. 8. No amount of pleading worked. So, now I have to drive in this morning to fetch them. I had other plans for the day including bowel prep.
May we survive the computer age.

Yes it’s Fubar, then older folks not so computer literate are lost. Now they want you to computer admission information instead of filling out a form sheet at office. Sorry for your 💩 on top of all your other💩.

I tend to wonder if things like this, which are all too common, are less a result of computers and more a result of people using computers as the excuse for their lack of caring about what they do and not being responsible and thinking for themselves, which seems to be a major problem.

I consider myself fairly computer literate so I just hand over paper or online forms to my wife. Really let's be honest most days I don't even know how old I am or my street address.

I think you are absolutely correct with your astute observation.

Ridiculous.
My wife takes meds that are class3? For sleep, I guess that it is a product that has a high propensity for abuse, so every month she has to almost run out, and if someone in the chain of delivery has a bad hair day, that happens.
Something so benign as an antibiotic, it should not even be an issue.
A lot of bullshit if you ask me.

It's great to have a family owned pharmacy in town. They will do pretty much anything to take care of us.

I can’t remember the last time that I saw one of those… between CVS, Walgreens, and all of the grocery stores, I don’t think a mom and pop could survive here. I refuse to do business with CVS, they declared themselves as a healthcare facility, therefore they stopped carrying any tobacco related products as they said promoting healthy choices was their paramount concern….🙄But they carry liquor, beer, wine, unhealthy foods… and the CEO is a bonehead.

You left out the estimated 128000 deaths caused by prescription drugs each year promoting healthy choices. Our Walgreens closes down the pharmacy everyday so employees can have a proper lunch break.

They can put a man on the moon but I can not pair my Bluetooth earbuds with desktop. Is there a pill for that yet, it will need to be named something catchy.

I haven't been inside a CVS in a while. What's their stance on vape products since they've been billed as a smoking alternative but come with their own health issues?

I doubt they carry Vape products, but I don't go there, I wouldn't know. Correction: I was talking about CEO Larry Merlo former CEO/scumbag, it seems the new CEO is cut from the same cloth. I would go into detail, but I do not want to trigger others into depression and outrage.

More people die each year from medical malpractice and prescription medicine than all other causes. Just read a peer reviewed study that Phizer covid vax killed 14 people for each person saved. I'm not antivax,Moderna was much, much better. Still not good. I'm glad I got the Moderna but I will never take another mRNA vaccine.

There was a sad incident while in the hospital recently. While walking laps on the floor where my room was, I encountered a Roman Catholic Priest hurrying by his Stole fluttering. I greeted him with a friendly "Hi Father". He grunted a reply and sped away. Sad. In my day, a Priest would have stopped, talked with me and perhaps offered a blessing. This one could not be bothered. I mention this not as a criticism of religion but as another indicator of how our society seems to be changing into something I no longer recognize. I am sure others here see the same every day.

But in all seriousness, I miss the world I grew up in, this one seems like a faulty reproduction of it.

That occurred to me as well. Still, he could have said that and asked my room number for a later visit. Now, would Pat O'Brien have acted so?

I am sure others here see the same every day. There is a huge shortage of priest. Every one has to do the work of 3 or 4. It's like being a CVS pharmacist. Even in my childhood, on the rare occasion I had to speak to a priest, they were all over the spectrum. Some were very pleasant and not rude, even though I was not Catholic. Others were very rude. Same thing with nuns half seem to be serving hell, while others were so sweet that I was jealous of Christ. People are people and everyone does the best they can do. Actually, the first nice, sober priest I ever met was at Shannon airport. I think the airport was his ministry.

Now how would you like to be expected to live up to a fictional character in your line of work? I hear that Father Flanigan could be a real hard a$$ when needed.

They put all the safety devices on it, but I have to remove the guards for most of the stuff I cut. I think it's better to see the spinning destruction.

Pat played Father Dufy, Chaplain of the NY 69th in the Spanish War and WWI. Yes, Father Flanigan was hard on donors but he got what was needed. You do realize I was joking in the original post, right?

Wood shop in the latter 70’s, smoke a doobie between classes, and go to wood shop… what could go wrong?😂 I never witnessed any serious injuries, saw the planer launch a few pieces of timber that got the attention of the shop teacher. He had a bottle ow whiskey in his side drawer to help with the stress.
