Working on a bowl of Haunted Bookshop in the Sunday cob. I'm gonna try some Five Brothers in a bit to compare it's strength to HB. Lookit you, bein' all useful and stuff. Okay, so my pouch of Five Brothers is quite dry. Shag cut, like cigarette tobacco. Very strong, all tobacco flavor. Heavy on the nicotine. I think it packs a much bigger punch than HB. If you like Lucky Strike or Pall Mall ciggies, this is for you! I'm actually a little light-headed.

Good Morning! It's 36° here with a partly cloudy sky and bright moonlight. Although I made a supermarket run on Saturday, I have to go to a different one this afternoon for stuff the other one doesn't have. Starting the smoking day with a bowl of Scottish Flake for a change in the BBB Two Star Special smooth billiard and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my jacket. Have a good one everybody!

Good Morning Again! It's still 36° with an overcast sky here at first light. I just finished watching the 1950 sci-fi movie "Rocket Ship XM" with Lloyd Bridges. This was the first post-war "outer space" movie to be produced with the musical score written by the famous American composer Ferde Grofé. Currently smoking a bowl of Wessex Brown VA Flake in the BBB smooth billiard while occasionally sipping my coffee. Later on I'll place my monthly tobacco order. Time to check the headline news.

A review would be appreciated Pete as I haven’t tried. Cheers…. Good to see you, Ted. I like it as an occasional smoke. It has Kasturi cigar(?) leaf in it, along with Virginia and Perique. I swear I get apple pastry filling in the tin note. Flavor wise, it comes across more like a vague fruity/spicy flavor. Not bad stuff. Apple pastry with a fruity-spicy flavor huh? Now I’m really intrigued! Yes it’s amazing what the brain registers when it comes to smoking and flavor profiling. Cheers buddy.🤗👍

I’m still smoking Watch City Rougaroux, mostly in the same meerschaum. That’s a beautiful looking pipe Ted!

Now smoking a bowl of Limerick Flake while sipping my coffee and watching the hokey 1958 sci-fi movie "War of the Satellites" I'll finish up this pipe and then head back to the house.

GREEK INDEPENDENCE WAR 1821-2024 Anniversary
As today at 25 March 1821 the Orthodox Greeks officially started the revolution against the ottoman empire fighting the muslim turks and their allies (from albania, bosnia, tunisia, egypt, croatia, algeria etc) to end an almost 400 year old tyranny. Their motto was "Freedom of Death" and in few areas that the turks never manage to invade was "Victory or Death".
May 20, 1825 Maniaki of Messinia, around 500 Greeks not well barricaded in positions faced 3000 Ottomans (turkish-egyptians). The reinforcements expected by Papaflessas (a Archimandrite) never arrived and so he faced the enemy alone. Every Greek knew they were going to die but fought to send the message to the Ottomans that they preferred Death to slavery. The film did not have the effects of Hollywood (the cavalry attacks were more numerous, the cannonade more intense, 3 of Greeks saved and took our flag so the muslims won't disgrace it etc.) but you can get an idea. Please take 10 minutes of your time to see how we fought for our Freedom back then.
I am smoking Skandinavik Sungold and at dinner i will raise a glass of red wine to the memory of the fallen fellow countrymen in the battlefield, those which tortured till death in prisons and the civilians who were massacred.

Good Monday morning to all of the Patch. It's gray, wet and cold here in the Irish North West, don't normally start the day with aros, but today I'm having some Ashton Rainy Day in Ireland's favourite, the 626, 🤣 seems fitting. Wishing you all a great day n happy smokes!

Winding down the afternoon with a bowl of Ennerdale Flake in a Bing’s Favorite. I just got in from a long walk with the pups in the sunny, clear and refreshing air. Tired dogs are good dogs. Hope you all enjoy your Monday!

Evening all, just about to have some EM in a Savinelli 106 Oscar Tiger, for once good news re: blends in the UK, OGS is now available again alongside Vintage Flake! OGS has been discontinued in the UK since before I took up pipe smoking. I'm a very happy boy!

A 50/50 mix of Half & Half and Gatlin Burley in the Caminetto 120, iced coffee on the side. Herb, what have we said about math equations here? Half and Half and Gatlin Burly makes three halfs... i'm too old to get to the answer.. And if you did add 1/2 Gatlin Burly did it not reduce the 1/2 Half and Half... I'm so confused...

As with Orlik Golden Sliced, the tobacco is pressed into cakes. Orlik Vintage flake then remains under pressure to allow greater infusion of the leaf in the cake until it is fully matured. The longer maturing process allows the flavours of the leaf to blend together, giving an even smoother, mellow smoking experience, enjoyable any time of the day."

Smoking a bit more of Ennerdale in the same pipe. The tide has started trickling in, and with the full moon and wind we’re going to get high enough water to cut the island off in a few hours.
I saw a few cormorants on the walk today, the eagles are abundant, and the waters are full of striped bass come in to lay their eggs. Everything is coming alive again, and soon we’ll be teeming with migratory birds making the long trek from South America feasting on horseshoe crab eggs. ‘No country for old men’, according to a favorite Irish poet.
Enjoy your evening friends.
