I wear a welding helmet with auto switch glass. Works OK but is kind of scratched up. Good enough.

I wear a welding helmet with auto switch glass. Works OK but is kind of scratched up. Good enough. I have a brand new welding helmet, but I bought paper glasses for the family. I checked them and they are dark enough. Back when I was in printing, we had an eclipse and I made about 8 filter packs from the 3 inch camera filters. CYM + UV and 90 ND. About 25 guys passed them around. These things pay. When it came to a vote to advance me to journeyman early, I got 100%.

When I worked hazmat disposal, it was crazy how many welding helmets I ran across. People would buy then for one use and return them.

I will be in Tokyo, not sure how to see it from there. If you just look straight down real hard.... Haha! I will!

We were right in the path for the annular eclipse in October last year. It was a neat experience but hearing about the expected crowds/traffic we're going to skip this one.

Long term forecast is showing a decent chance of rain and clouds across Indiana and Ohio. 😢 Hoping that changes. Even if it is, my wife and I are still making the drive to at least experience night time during the day. Depending on where we end up, it’s only a 2 to 2.5 hour drive normally.
Someone I know in the Boston area, is flying with his family his brother's place in Austin, TX on the theory that the skies are usually clearer there than in Boston.

I hear that if you are a bum on the streets in Manhattan, The daily passing of Joy Behar produces an eclipse.

I've never been overly impressed by any eclipses I've seen. Maybe one day. Same. Shadow on the Sun. Woohoo! To those of you who enjoy it, I tip my hat. Pretend it's 10k years ago and you're an Aztec prisoner. That should add some excitement. I try not to be too jaded about these things.

Yeah, the extended forecast isn't looking very favorable here in NE Ohio for eclipse day right now.

A partly cloudy sky is forecast for the afternoon here. Same here. About 60 degrees until it gets dark. I'll be on the back porch with my pipe or a cigar. And my fancy cardboard sunglasses.

Ready to head out for the eclipse bright and early tomorrow. My son is in far southern Michigan and should be able to see it without leaving his girlfriends house. We are forcast to have a brief clearing around the time, immediately followed by extreme storms.

There’s only a couple of miles of that in the extreme south east corner of Michigan by Toledo. Tell him to drive few miles south to get total as partial is cool but not as cool as total.

Too much cloud cover north of Houston it will be a wash out. The news showed Kerrville where all the hotels are booked fifty miles due west of San Antonio. I have no desire to go to the farm outside of Segovia.

If he goes to Toledo, tell him to eat at Tony Packo’s. That’s the Hunagarian sausage place that Klinger always talked about on MASH.

That’s the Hunagarian sausage place that Klinger always talked about on MASH. A. He doesn't drive, so he is at the mercy of his girlfriend. B. His girlfriend has her son, daughter, daughters fiance, daughters best friend, and someone else living with her. If they decide to travel, it will be a caravan. He probably doesn't care. He can watch it anytime on his computer. 🤔😒 But thanks for the info anyway. Fingers crossed for a clear patch in our back yard. We might only get 53 seconds, but that's plenty of time for my old stiff neck to be looking up. Don't you think the highway south will be clogged? Looks like 75 is the only route.

For the 2017 eclipse, the freeway in Kentucky turned into a parking lot.
