Is there a blend you used to be very fond of, but now it's changed drastically? In fact, it's so different you may not smoke it any longer?
For me, it was Peterson's University Flake. It's like all the good ingredients went over to Irish Flake and left UF badly bastardized. I don't smoke it anymore.

I heard that was a pretty strong one. I haven't had it. People seem to agree that it's changed from 10 years ago, but some like it better and some like it less. Jiminks doesn't think the change is worth commenting in. To me, it seems inevitable that a blend of natural products are going to change over time, as well as my taste buds. I like PPP, but I only have tried one tin. Good luck finding one that works for you.

For me, it's Virginia's in general. Without some Burley in the mix, it just doesn't do anything for me.

Everything made by Murray’s could fall into that category for me. Erinmore, the Dunhill blends, etc. STG didn’t recreate them spot on in many cases. The recipes remained close or identical, but the quality of the tobacco’s used by Murray’s has never been matched by STG. It’s been a while and I have mostly adjusted though.

Carter Hall changed noticeably when production moved to the Dominican (or wherever it is). I don't hate the new stuff, but it's definitely different.

Specifically Peter Heinrich Dark Strong. The recipe changed about 4 or 5 years back and it's not nearly as good. Seems like Virginias in general have declined in quality the last several years. Even current Marlin Flake doesn't seem anything near what it used to be.

The old timers among us pretty much say everything was better back then! I do not doubt it though, the need to cut corners in agriculture, processing etc... undoubtedly are going to have an effect. I say that in jest, (old man shakes fist) the claims are not without merit. The prices realized on some prized blends of yesteryear probably support the notion that it was better back then. In a serendipitous gun auction, I chanced upon a sealed tin of Edgeworth High grade slices that was really cheap... (no other pipe smoking bidders as I could tell) Nirvana, I savored every puff as I knew that as Seals and Crofts said..."We will never pass this way again". Sage advice by Turbocat, we need to play with the hand we are dealt.

But it is so appropriate and concise in so many ways.
