And that's why AD is often called Type 3 Diabetes. I take issue though with their recommendations. Sugar is Sugar. It does not matter if it comes from a candy bar or a piece of fruit. Both will cause a rise in blood sugar. It is the constant grazing that most Americans practice that keeps blood sugars elevated (causing insulin resistance). It would be more prudent to just eat once a day, or as a minimum skip breakfast. Moderate smoking is the only thing that has been shown to reduce AD, as well as Parkinson's. If you are worried about AD you should be smoking and eating low carb, enough to produce ketones.

I'm 6' and still pretty stout for my age. My weight used to bob up and down between 200-210 pds until I got serious about sugar and white flour intake. When I say serious, that meant going through the cabinets and fridge looking at every gram. I still eat great but can hold 180 pds now on a regular basis.
It's all about personal preference. Roll with what makes you happy - Nobody get out of here alive.

Too late! I seem to forget what I'm doing in the middle of doing it all the time. What were we talking about again?
