It seems like many people really like this blend. Are you one of them? So why does this stuff float your boat?
I have never tried it, but from the reviews I think it would put me on the floor.

I'm not a burley fan, but I like this tobacco. It's made up of mostly burley with a small amount of Perique and red VA. Three Friars is a bit too light for me and HB has just the right combination of ingredients to make it my only burley blend. There's a jar in my cellar waiting to be smoked and find that it does better in a cob.

I like it for an occasional smoke. It's got a full flavor and a good nic hit. But prefer OJK when I want a strong smoke. I can see why guys that like all their smokes to be stout would smoke HB, as I it lends itself more to being an all day smoke.

As you all know, it's a daily/multiple bowl smoke for me. Nearly exclusively smoke in a cob. Great, natural flavor. The nicotine doesn't bother me. Goes well with coffee.

I’m only an occasional burley smoker but when I feel the urge, HB is a great choice. It got some substance in the flavor realm, as Pete says above, it’s a natural flavor, not all gooped up with stuff like so many others. It also doesn’t tend to wear out flavor wise to me. I can smoke it repeatedly and it’s just as pleasant and lively in flavor after many bowls. I only tried it initially because I saw Pete smoking so much of it, I figured there had to be something to it 😃 I now have a bit in my cellar. It doesn’t seem strong to me nicotine wise at all, satisfying, but not strong, although I’m probably not a good judge of that since I remain nicotine saturated most of the time.

I don't like it to earthy for my taste buds. But I enjoy old joy krantz which is in the same wheelhouse so I don't know tastes are subjective.

I'm known to be a Virginia man and a flakes man, but I smoke some HB occasionally. It seems like almost everyone I've heard talk about it says it's very noticeably better in a cob. If I could ever find my cobs, I'd give it a try.

Just recently got some to try as I've seen so many posts about it. I like it. Since it is supposed to be best in a cob, I'll try that next.

I have two, 2oz tins in the cellar getting some age on (although some say burley doesn't age like Virginia?), my taste for burley is slowly developing, so might give it some time yet. Besides, I've a lot of other blends to get through/try.

Aged Virginia blends are certainly more noticeable than aged burley, nonetheless even with my palate I notice that with age, burley smooths out. “A basic rule to remember is that the higher the sugar content of the leaf, the better it will age. Burley tobaccos average just 0.2 percent sugar, while Turkish averages about 12 percent, and flue-cured Virginias can reach 22 percent or more.”

I've noticed this with a previous jar of HB that I had put away in the cellar. I'll keep the current jar aging for another year or so.

I can attest to that burley does nothing for my palate. There a handful of burleys I enjoy like Solani and a few mixes like book shop and OJK.

I like Haunted Bookshop, I received a generous packet by one of the LVIPS that I enjoyed. I have a lot of OJK and Briar Fox and Night Train that scratch my Burley itch. 15 year old Night train (Bright Virginia ribbon, bright Virginia flake, cavendish cut, [Virginia grown brown] burley, and perique) is phenomenal. I probably won’t buy any in this he future simply because I do not need any more tobacco.

Pete + Haunted Bookshop = all is well. I know something must be wrong in your corner of the world when you don’t post something about HB. Cheers buddy…..🤗👍👋

I don't think I ever smoked H.B., but if it's anywhere as hearty as Five Brothers, I wont be having any...my head spins all by itself.

I've never had Five Brothers, but I, personally, don't find HB's reputation as a nicotine bomb is justified. It's burley-dominant, so it's got some nicotine, but I don't think it's anything to give trouble to an experienced pipe smoker like you. You might not like it, of course. Most people seem to either love it or hate it.
