Do you prefer breaking in a pipe which starts out with a nude interior? -OR- Do you prefer a carbonized coating or maybe even honey or something along those lines?

Either a straight briar bowl or standard bowl carbon coating are okay with me, but definitely not flavored. The last estate pipe that I bought was the BBB Freestyle smooth bent pot and it came with a pre-carbonized bowl as part of the seller's restoration.

It doesn't matter much to me, but if I get a bare bowl I always coat the inside with honey. Petersons seem to take longer to break in than most.

I just start smoking. Never fussed with it. The bowl gets coated quick enough. Same. I tried the honey thing years ago and couldn’t really tell a difference. Probably did it wrong. As for precoating, I slightly prefer it just because it eliminates having to even think about screwing up the chamber somehow, but it’s a very slight preference.

Smoke it as it comes… no preference. On a cob, I really like the corn flavor and the glisten on the bowl.

No treatment, no honey.
