How long of a smoke do you usually go for? I'm at about 30 to 40 minutes per sitting.

Usually when my pipe is done. 30 minutes to an hour usually. But that's also drinking and talking to people.

I always start my smoking time in the workshop and usually smoke three to four bowls depending on the pipe. I get anywhere from forty minutes to an hour per bowl.

So many variables for this one, but I think the 40 minutes to an hour estimate is about right. I always time budget an hour.

Around thirty minutes or as long as my coffee holds out.

Could be anywhere from a 15 minute cob full of Burley to a 2 hour cigar.

As above, varies & depends on bowl capacity, from 10mins with cobs & meers, to over an hour with 3 magnums, also on cut of tobacco. Size of cigar determines length of time, over an hour if a 6x60

Depends on the pipe and what I'm doing. Working in the shop my burn time is quick. Sitting in the house relaxing 40 min to just over an hour.

A bowl typically lasts me, yeah, 40 mins to an hour or a bit more. How many bowls just depends on how much time I've got, what the weather's like, and what I just plain feel like doing.

I never go for a short smoke. I'm not satisfied if I don't get at least 35 minutes. 45 is about right.

The majority of the pipes I smoke have large and or deep bowls, generally proved an hour to an hour and a quarter. Works good for me.

Corncobs will go 20 to 30 minutes. Briars 40 minutes to an hour and a half. All depends on the size of the bowl.

I have two kinds of pipes, i.e. both standard-size and a few with over-size, large capacity bowls. Why? Because the pipes with standard-size bowls usually take about 45 mins -1 hour to smoke, and the pipes with larger capacity bowls take just over 1 hour or so, to smoke.
Depending on how long I want to relax, and be in my own serene, "private world", I choose the pipe size according to my needs.
I live in New York City. I need a few Boswellian, magnum-size pipes!

Varies, of course. From 45 minutes to an hour and a half. If you smoke through one of those things in 45 minutes, I think we've found the source of your tongue bite. It's not the time that causes tongue bite. It's too moist tobacco, packing too tight, puffing too hard, or a particular tobacco just doesn't agree with you. I have smoked a 2 hour bowl before and it was fine. I have just recovered from smoking the new tin which was too damp, I think. It may be the tobacco. Next bowl is drying in a wide pot. Note. I just tested the draw and it was tight so I pulled the stem and it was open from the shank. Ran a bristle cleaner though the stem and it was filthy. This was right out of the cabinet so it should have been clean. All I can think is it was out when we packed up for the move. You can see how often I smoke pots. If I had continued, I would have had tongue bite again, through no fault of the tobacco.

I meant smoking through a great big bowl in 45 min. suggests one just might be smoking too fast, resulting in tongue bite. It was in jest, in any case. I know Bob knows how to smoke his pipes.

It depends on the tobacco. The vanilla blend he smokes burns relatively fast compared to a Flake. The bowl of Seattle Pipe Club Rum Vanilla I just finished lasted about an hour and I didn't have any tongue bite this time, but I let it dry for about 4 hours. The draft on the pipe is really wide open too.

Depends on the blend type and chamber size. For a Legend cob, 20 to 30 minutes. Most my briars are group 1 to 5 and go 30 to 90 minutes. Burley burns the fastest. Virginia burns the slowest. English blends are somewhere in between.

How long of a smoke do you usually go for? I'm at about 30 to 40 minutes per sitting. Yeah, that's about right. Although I have some pipes with smaller bowls that I can get a 15-20 minute smoke from.

Like everyone here depends on the size of the bowl, the activity…. Rather than focusing on time, I prefer to focus on my enjoyment that my pipe gives me.
