So I bought quite a few pouches of Sir Walter Raleigh Regular at pipes and cigars.com. Now, they shorted me a pouch, so I called them up and they were very responsive to my situation. They sent a new pouch out, via UPS, and it just got here today, so it took only 3 days. That's pretty good in my book. All the while they were very courteous.
Have you had any positive experiences like this?

Yes to many experiences like that so I use Smoking Pipes for online ordering.

Positive experiences with P&C, in particular? I can't remember ever having them really drop the ball on anything, but shipping, etc., always takes longer from them for some reason. More generally, I've had good experiences with all the big sites except for one, which I stopped doing business with.

What happened, if I may ask?

The problem I had with them was back at the height of the COVID supply chain craziness. I ordered some stuff from them. It went missing in shipping, which I was understanding enough about. Lots of businesses were having problems. My real beef with them was that they would not engage on it. I'd send them an email and say, hey, still no sign of this, can you guys initiate a track from your end to see if we can at least find out where it is. Nada. Radio silence. They wouldn't even answer my emails. That doesn't cut it for me. (I never did receive the package.)

My cellar for the most part was done pre-covid.

By that point, I'd given up on them, completely.

Too many negatives over the years with them, mainly poor packaging, rather deal with Smokingpipes.com

Never had any issues with online tobacco sellers. I bought mostly from P&C, then SP, then several others. Always called and talked to Carole at Wilke, then John Brandt after he bought it.

The only issue I had with P&C was a few years ago at Christmas time, I ordered a sampler of cigars and they sent me a whole case. Needless to say, a bunch of my friends got cigars that year.

Just for clarity: the story I told was not about P&C.

I personally never had any issues with P&C going back many years, but I don’t order from them anymore, partially because I drifted away to Smokingpipes, then to Tobaccopipes.
In case you’re curious, P&C is owned by STG, Smokingpipes is Laudisi and Tobaccopipes is Mac Baren, all through various subsidiary and spinoff companies.

I thought Laudisi fairly recently acquired TobaccoPipes. Not so? My understanding is that a Mac Baren subsidiary acquired primary interest, about the same time as they bought the Tobaccoreviews website, but I could be wrong. I heard it from someone close to the situation. It seems Laudisi and Mac Baren have been closely involved for a while though. It’s hard to tell when none of them are really forthcoming with the real story and since they are privately held, how can we really know what is going on? Laudisi also took over distribution for some of Mac Baren’s holdings in Europe late last year. Corporate games for profit.

Another positive experience with pipes and cigars.com. I ordered some tobacco on a Saturday and I noticed upon tracking it, it hadn't been shipped by Thursday. I called them fellas up, made them aware of this occurrence and the lady rep 😮 had the order filled and shipped out the next day. C'est la vie, we all have our good and bad days.
