An end to my pipe smoking?

I got a test result back from a scan I had done last month to get a calcium score for my heart. My cardiologist did not see any value added by doing it, but my dietary MD wanted it done. The doctor analyzing the imagery noted my ascending aorta is enlarged and is 4.4 cm diameter where they measure. Waiting to hear back from my cardiologist. I would think if she saw this in all the scans I had done last year, she would have mentioned it. Greater than 3.5 is considered dilated. If this other doctor’s diagnosis is correct, I am verging on the range where risk of an aortic aneurism is high. If confirmed, I am not doing anything that is known to enlarge arteries, which sadly includes my occasional pipe. Waiting…..

I always thought I would make it into my nineties. My grandfather on my mother’s side lived to 101 and on my dad’s side 82. After my heart attack, Mom tells me that three of her dad’s brothers died from heart attacks in their 60’s. Thank goodness for the advances in cardiology. I still have 90 as a goal.
