This is a rare circa 1906 postcard view of the Eldorado Springs Railway Company's passenger operation. Three miles of standard gauge track connected the resort of Eldorado Springs, known as "The Coney Island of the West", to Marshall, a mining town three miles to the east. Two years later, the Colorado & Southern took over the trackage and was finally electrified by the Denver & Interurban. New to my collection.

Very cool, Russ. It's kinda half trolley car and half train.

I can't imagine driving, or riding in, that contraption over a trestle bridge.

Ed is a railroad man, I am sure he recalls that day.

I can't recommend the Durango and Silverton excursion highly enough.

I can't recommend the Durango and Silverton excursion highly enough. Wanted to ride it but we were on our way north, did not want to backtrack. That highway from Silverton to Ouray… that would not be fun in a big truck in icy conditions.😳 Kinda sucked, for the sanity of both of us, I do all the driving. I would have liked to look at the scenery.

That highway from Silverton to Ouray… that would not be fun in a big truck in icy conditions.😳 Kinda sucked, for the sanity of both of us, I do all the driving. I would have liked to look at the scenery. We drove some of the Pig Trail coming back from Missouri. It was a great but technical drive and I was wishing I was in the old Cobalt instead of the truck. I let the wife drive for a while but instead of resting I was on the edge of the seat and watching her. It's a very curvy road through the Ozark foothills, but it's too tight with no chance to relax. I don't think it's even a good motorcycle road. Too much of a good thing. They talk about the Tail of the Dragon with its 318 curves in 11 miles. The Pig Trail is countless blind curves one after another for 50 miles. If you want fun in a truck, try TX Hwy 170 along the Rio Grande. 15% grades and no runouts. The Million Dollar highway is nice, except for the people in Ourey throwing beers at us.
