A big thank you to Dino for turning me on to P&C's Match tobaccos. I looked them up, not expecting to find one of my favorites, London Mixture, and sure enough they had it. I've always wanted to try Standard Mixture (could you have a name more British?), so got 8oz of Match Standard Mixture for $16.39, including the $3.99 for shipping.
Placed the order Saturday night, and P&C and the PO had it here from PA to Dallas today. It's nicely dry and ready to smoke. The cut is rather coarse, so I think it would fit better in a larger bowl, but I'm right now smoking some in my little Butz Choquin Belami Canadian, the pipe I've had the longest and am perhaps the most fond of.
It's delicious. It's Virginias, Orientals and Latakia, and a medium to full English with Latakia. As Frank V says, there is no such thing as too much Latakia, and this stuff's a bargain. Much, much better than any of the value blends I've tried; this actually has flavor and a personality. Search P&C for 'match' if you want to see what else they make; if you're worried about Dunhill tobacco going away, they make seven Dunhill Match blends: Standard Mixture, London Mixture, Elizabethan, Nightcap, EMP, 965, and even the new, poorly named Baby's Bottom 1938.
I've smelled a baby's bottom, and it wasn't nothin' I wanted to smoke.

Tried a second bowl in the 1983 Cumberland Canadian I got for Christmas. Probably the best tobacco for the money I've ever had. I want to try the London Mixture though. I find it funny they charge the same for Match Dunhill as Match Carter Hall.
I am noticing there are more backordered and out of stock Match blends as there are available. At least London Mixture is still in stock; good luck with your EMP...

I remember a Jiminks review of a codger blend (cannot remember which) where the "match" blend exceeded the quality of the original, and if i remember correctly, it was because the components were superior...I want to say it was Carter hall.

I remember a Jiminks review of a codger blend (cannot remember which) where the "match" blend exceeded the quality of the original, and if i remember correctly, it was because the components were superior...I want to say it was Carter hall. There were several of them. Here's a link to my Match reviews. My review of Holiday Match is in the middle of page four. Several have been updated at TR.com since I originally wrote these, so those interested may want to check specific blends there.: pipesmokersforum.com/community/threads/jims-sutliff-match-reviews.44884/
