My neighbor has a digital Winchester branded gun safe, and recently locked out of it. Customer service gave no service..."it is out of warranty, we cannot help you, call a locksmith." He contacted a local gun safe seller, and he recommended a good guy that took care of him, but he had to drill out the controls to get it opened. $300.00 I guess that the ribbon cable ran through a hole in the back side of the door, and the metal had no sort of trim or moulding on the metal. He said he had only opened the safe a couple of times, but that was enough to put a tiny nick in one end of the cable disabling the unit. If you have one configured like that you might want to make a trip to the hardware store. It is a shame that a manufacturer couldn't part with the 25 cents to prevent this.

Kinda surprised it didn't have a manual backup.

Mine has key locks and tempered glass. 😁 I like to look at my rifles and we never all read the house If we do, we set the alarm. If they get stolen I have the serial numbers and pictures.

Yeah, he is stuck with a big paperweight. That would be the really aggravating part. Practically the definition of a white elephant. Just the cost of moving it would be more than it's worth. Like trying to sell a used igloo, as my grandmother would've said.

Mine is a dial lock. I tend to avoid digital anything. Bolted to a concrete slab with proper anchor bolts. It is going exactly no where. Folks here are famous for wrapping safes with chains and dragging them through the wall and down the road. Happened to two of my neighbors.
