I looked around and i wasn't able to find reviews here on this site. Can anyone tell me what their experience has been with Half and Half? I smoked a small portion of this years ago, but can't really remember what it's like. Thanks in advance.

I have a pouch that I have never opened. Also never tried Prince Albert. Not much help.

Pretty much a standard "codger" blend. If you like Carter Hall, SWR, etc. then it's worth a try.

There are two listings for it. This one has the most and newest reviews. You may have already seen it. I get you're asking for personal experience. Sorry I can't help more. www.tobaccoreviews.com/blend/1149/scandinavian-tobacco-group-stg-half-half/?retSearchTerm=Half&orderBy=newest&pagenumber=1

I should have been more specific. I was looking for opinions from The Briar Patch Pipe Forum fellas. Thank you, though, Relight.

It's been four or five years for me and I remember liking it pretty good. Seem to recall it burning a bit hot. I also remember someone steering me to one of Uhle's blends that was similar but better. I can't remember which Uhle's right off though. I must not have hated Half & Half though, I usually remember the one's I don't like.

It can't be too bad aa it's been on the market for at least 75 years.

Half and Half- Half tobacco, half burning polystyrene. Thereโs something in the casing/toppings that Iโm unusually sensitive to and not in a good way.

Iโm in the โhavenโt tried itโ category. Sorry. Sounds like it may be pretty polarizing.

I smoked a couple pouches a few years ago. The spices used a a topping made it different from the sweeter OTC blends. Has a little more body, too. Less PG than other OTC blends. That said, there's a lot of better pipe tobacco out there.

I have smoked a few pouches of it and will say it is just tolerable for me. The casing can be a little off-putting and it will smoke hot if you get carried away. It smells pleasant enough but pretty much tastes too much like a cigarette for my liking. In an inexpensive codger blend I will take PA any day over it. And if I am spending money on inexpensive pouch tobaccos, I go with Casey Jones Last Ride or John Bull. Both are always very affordable. I bought twenty pouches of CJโs Last Ride for 99 cents a pouch. I jarred up 4-5 pouches and gifted the rest. It is a pretty good aromatic. John Bull is a respectable mild English blend. Also frequently on sale.

I just tried it a few days ago and it smoked well all the way and didn't have to relight but once. I am a recovering alcoholic and I used to smoke strawberry Phillies and liked to drink alot of oj and bacardi rum (because i was cheap an over did all of it) lol. The after taste of half and half was to reminiscent of that taste idk how but it was terrible and didn't go away for awhile. Also I tasted it in my pipe for the next few bowls. Worse tobacco for me that I have tried as of now.

I recently asked the manager of the convenience store in town about stocking~selling pipe tobaccos other than Sir Walter Raleigh (regular); to which, she replied that it was a longshot. Today, she enthusiastically told me that there should be some Half and Half in the store by the end of the week. I do not recall having ever heard (read) of this blend until a few hours ago and now I am reading a thread about it, which is a testament to the usefulness of everyone's input on this forum.
That said, I would have preferred reading your glowing reviews and everyone putting it over instead of burying it six feet deep.

Well, I pulled the trigger on some Half and Half...will be here later this afternoon. Reviews were mixed, of course, but I'm looking forward to trying it. ๐ The Half and Half came in yesterday's mail around 4:30 p.m. There was very little information on the pouch. It simply says Burley and Bright tobacco and that it was Cool Smoking and had an Improved Cut. The aroma in the pouch was really pleasing, smelled like milk chocolate and raisins. Moisture content was perfect. After lighting up the bowl, which was quite an easy task, a goodly amount of smoke was produced. This tobacco burned quickly, reminding me to some extent of Sir Walter Raleigh Regular. The flavor was nutty, cocoa-like and sweetish. This was a very pleasant blend. I will purchase more if everything continues to develop in a positive fashion. Thumbs up.

Didn't really care for it, it's quite a bit stronger on the topping than Sir Walter Raleigh, though I'd say that both are in the same 'flavor' ballpark. The topping for Sir Walter Raleigh is molasses and anisette, which gives it it's own tangy, sweet flavor. Half and Half has the same flavor, but doubled, and without the 'tang' of SWR, to my taste buds anyways. Half and Half is "I'd smoke it to be polite and wouldn't hate it" whereas Sir Walter Raleigh is an all day smoke tobacco for me.

Back in 1976, when I purchased my first house, the ole boy next door, a retired Navy vet from WW2, smoked H & H everyday, all day long. He had a few old cobs and a long shank pipe called an "Old Hickory", and he was a classic codger, old-time pipe smoker. In November of 78 I got my first pipe, and began my aromatic search for that one tobacco that would be my #1 blend...I still haven't found it. Anyway, one day Mr Robinson offered me a bowl of his Half & Half; it always smelled so mellow and sweet that I jumped at the offer and dumped the candy store tobacco in my pipe on the spot...I loaded up, put a match to it...I'd like to have some of that vintage now, cause I think it's been through some changes over the years, but on that day, as an aro smoking youngster, it tasted like stale bread with a few drops of molasses on it...I must have made one hell of a face as I dumped it over the fence... Sometime in the late eighties I was given a whole pouch, and found it much better, but still not something I'd keep on hand. A few weeks ago, Ted{turbocat} sent me a pouch{thanks Ted}, and after a few decades, and lots of burleys, I found the first half of the pouch an enjoyable trip back in time...last week I dumped the second half of the pouch into a jar of mixed burleys I have labeled as "Bygone Days". I will some this up and say that Half & Half has earned it's spot in smoking history, in the pipe and as a R.Y.O., and as you read this, many people find it as pleasing as their fathers and grandfathers did, but for me, if I wanted to stock up on an old time codger blend, I'd go with Granger, But that's just me...smoke what you like, and like what you smoke!
