I have a pouch of Half and Half that I bought when I first started smoking the pipe and never opened.

Half and Half- Half tobacco, half burning polystyrene. There’s something in the casing/toppings that I’m unusually sensitive to and not in a good way. Good description, Ted. I tried it once and immediately knew that I had just smoked a bowl of the absolute worst tobacco ever. I also had one pouch of this a decade ago and it honest to God, did not taste like tobacco at all. It did taste like plastic and playdough in the worst way. Like smoking chemicals and marker filters/plastic. Other codger blends like Carter Hall and Prince Albert are great burley&VA blends that taste as they should. Half&Half is an abomination, and I smoke almost anything. There are maybe three blends out of hundreds I have smoked, and I deem Half & Half not even worth smoking. But you have to try it yourself and see what you think.

What a stellar endorsement!😂 I think I will take a pass… if I have to soldier past the chemical taste, not for me… I am a grunt, he is a medal of honor pipe smoker. Jiminks: www.tobaccoreviews.com/blend/1149/scandinavian-tobacco-group-stg-half-half/?retSearchTerm=Half“ I tried this blend in the 1970s and hated it. I wasn't ready for burleys and certainly not this one. Very recently, I decided to give it a try when I learned Lane took over production from Pinkerton, and a number of people said this was better now. I had to wait until I finished a pouch before deciding what to think of this blend. I didn't like the first few bowls. I was put off by the strong chemical taste and smell. I had thought about not finishing the pouch, but I soldiered on. I'm glad I did. The taste grew on me a bit.”

Not a disaster, but maybe not something you'd buy again. Something like that?

Jim usually smokes 2 ounces of a blend before he writes a review unless he just can't stand it. No less than 6 bowls in different pipes.

Yeah … MOP status.
Medal Of Pipe.
After a couple of bowls, I move on but I am not heroic.

My codger blend was Heine’s blend when I was smoking more. Now I try to always smoke something special when I have a rare bowl. I do still enjoy a bowl of Edgeworth Ready Rubbed match.

I tried it once and really don't like the casing. Paladin Black Cherry was the same.

Yeah … MOP status. Medal Of Pipe. After a couple of bowls, I move on but I am not heroic. I tried Stonehaven in 5 pipes before I found one that gave me a decent smoke.

The age of Stonehaven is good out of the gate…10 years.
Fresh, not so much.

Not a disaster, but maybe not something you'd buy again. Something like that? Yes, I want to give it more time as well. It's odd that I'll smoke a bowl or two and it's quite good, but then a follow-up bowl tastes a tad bit funky. I think this blend has some hidden goodness to it...I raise my rating to 3 stars. Interestingly enough, I don't notice any anisette or licorice. This is a light boozy, stewed prune type of affair. Let it be known that I respect the heck out of Jim's reviews. His words over at tobacco reviews.com are the ones I go to right away when looking for a sense of authority.
