The End of Mac Baren as We Know It?

Sigh.

Doesn't Mac Baren also own sutliff?

Lotta consolidation happening in the pipe world. Rarely a good thing.

I hope that  Sutliff tobaccos do not change and that we will still be able to buy them.

I thought it would be worthwhile to list (and I’m sure I’ve missed many, please point any out) Mac Baren made tobaccos and some companies and things owned by them that it appears STG will now own. I know some have been mentioned already here.

I believe they produce some of Savinelli's portfolio but don't own it.

Mac Baren also owns Brigg and Backwoods. They relatively recently acquired Planta's portfolio, which adds brands like Holger Danske, McLintock and most likely Presbyterian Mixture. I understand the Presbyterian limited editions/special releases are manufactured by Sutliff, but it's still MB. There are certainly more brands that belonged to Planta that are produced for the European market but MB has not updated its website to reflect this acquisition as Planta was producing a lot of brands.

As MB is fairly successful and has significantly expanded since 2012 with all the acquisitions and considering the fact that it's established and operating in Denmark, I'm thinking STG will let it run its own thing without major intervention. But I could be absolutely wrong on this as I don't have access to upper management's thought process. They could decide to move everything under STG's umbrella as well, just so they have full control of production.

Concerning Sutliff, I would guess the same will happen as with Lane: they will move production to Denmark. Again, I could be grossly mistaken.

A lot of unanswered questions remain for sure.
