Good morning, starting off with Hal O’ the Wynd in a Peterson Apple. We’re stuck in a cloudy/drizzly/humid pattern for this week, so weather is neither nice nor nasty. Just blah. I hope you have a good one.

Happy Tuesday! Started the day with a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Tuesday cob and coffee on the front porch. It's 76, humid and partly sunny here. Heading into the garden soon.

Newminster Very Cherry, all day yesterday, and this morning in the Old Dominion stack billiard. I got this tobacco in a huge lot from heabar{ missing in action B.T.W. }so I don't know how old it is, but the cherry flavor is only a whisper to me, and i get mostly earthy, nutty Virginias, that smolder in the pipe and refuse to go out...no bite at all. I left this stuff in the freezer bag it came in for a long while...I had given the Lane Very cherry away after two bowls, and thinking this was the same, I didn't bother with it till i ran across a review that spoke of two different animals, and a bowl confirmed that I needed a new quart jar. Beside me, on the table, there's an unopened tin of C & D #841 Sha'are Orah{ Gates of Light }2011, domed up from all the magic going on under the lid...so there may be better things in store for me, but that will have to be after I tire of this ole cherry mixture.

I know that you like Haunted Bookshop but have you ever tried The Country Squire's "Sweet Burley"? I've never tried it. I generally like CS tobaccos and Sweet Burley sounds interesting. Here is a link to a review. link

I finally tried some cult blood red moon and I did enjoy it more than I thought. I may have to give some of that newminister a try. I wonder if the cherry flavor is subtle because of the age on it.

I’m having Inns of Court in a Sasieni billiard. Turned into a pretty nice day, but warm and sticky.

Good Evening! It's 80° with a partly cloudy sky, lower humidity, a light breeze, and sunshine out here on the deck. Unwinding with a bowl of Scottish Flake in the MM Washington 5th Avenue cob and there's a bottle of water on the side.

First time trying yet another Brazilian tobacco, Candido Giovanella Tabacos Imigrantes Maturado. I’m smoking it in a cob.
These are Brazilian market only tobaccos and they only contain Brazilian grown leaf from what I can tell. What’s really interesting to me is that the Burley used in them is like the burley of thirty or more years ago here. Higher quality than what is commonly available now. I actually feel like I’m smoking a tobacco from the 70’s or 80’s with these.

Started raining at about 4:15. 2 inches since then. Streets are flooded, I hear that some trees are down from the high winds that accompanied the rain.

Only got light wind for a short time and fairly light winds and light to moderate rain.

They are a number of raised garden boxes that are 12 to 18" higher than surrounding ground. Glad that I watered this morning.

Sun's out and the streets are draining. Wife read that a couple pumps were out, apparently back on line now. After-dinner smoke time. Haunted Bookshop in the Tuesday cob in the subterranean smoking lair.

OGS in the Merchant Service Bing Standard, which I haven't smoked in ages. This is not my actual pipe. They didn't photograph individual pipes and I haven't ever taken a shot of mine, but you get the idea. The grain on mine isn't as nice:

Having a bowl of Friar's Bayou in the barrel-shaped meerschaum. Son and (almost) DIL are over. They lost power in the storm. Watching Mets-Yankees. I hate both these teams.

There are some light casings, but it’s in the realm of what would be called a “codger burley” these days. A notably better version than the ones commonly available. I’m going to have to jump through some hoops and get more of this.
