So I purchased a book from Paul's Pipe Shop called "A pipe smokers guide" by Charles Graves. A third of the book is basically a promotion for falcon pipes and so I was wondering if anyone here owns one and if your willing to share your personal opinions about them.

I have 9 of them from the 1950s and 1960s. I enjoyed smoking them, they required a little extra care though. If you want to know more read "Back From The Ashes" by K.A. Worth. Good book about the history of the Falcon pipe.

I have two with Meer bowls and enjoy smoking them. One I use for aromatics and the other was just because.

I have a Falcon and a couple Grabow Vikings. They're nice enough pipes, decent smokers. The bowls are on the small side. You can buy additional bowls for the Falcons, when they're available. You can buy NOS Vikings and bowls at Paul's.

There are huge fans of these pipes out there. The overall look and design is a love or hate reaction. If one loves them and likes the way they smoke, they are so practical that many pretty much only smoke them. I can certainly see why anyone would love them.

I've had quite a few at some point and I really liked their unusual (especially the Bent stems) look and the fact I could use the same stem all day and just interchange the bowls. So if one leaves for a few days all is required is a stem and enough bowls. Can't beat that. These pipes are quite a brilliant little invention.

There is a guy online that specializes in Falcons, somehow he runs across big estates, cleans and restores them. Can’t remember if he is on Ebay or instagram.
Quit a few available on Ebay at any given time.

Smokingpipes has a few new production Falcons and some bowls available. If they had any meerschaum bowls in stock, I'd consider getting one.

This thread has inspired me to dig out one of my Vikings and the Falcon. The Falcon needs to be cleaned up, but I'll smoke the Viking.

I do like the idea of the interchangeable bowls like Dunnie said. One can change the bowls out for different occasions and blends. I wonder does the metal stem ghost easily like the plastic/rubber stems in briars and cobs or does it clean out easier since it is metal?

Right now at pauls pipe shop in store is buy one pipe get one for 96 cents.

My Falcon is an estate pipe that hasn't been cleaned yet. I'll do a before and after comparison shortly. I think the bowls (briar, not meerschaum) will ghost more than the metal shank. Well see.

Metal pipes are cool. I like my Falcon but love my Kirsten.

I bought a Falcon after I already had several Vikings. I didn't like it as well, so I gave it to a friend. I have 2 or 3 Kirstens that I prefer to both. It's moot as I don't smoke any of them anymore.

My test smoke of the Falcon confirmed the presence of a light ghost. I probably could have smoked it out. Decided to give it the Everclear treatment after giving the bowl a ream.
