Happy Friday! Started the day with a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Friday cob and coffee on the back porch. It's 67 and sunny here. Headed to 80 degrees, summer is making a comeback!

New to me, Sutliff Danish Cavendish, in the Brebbia apple. I'm putting together a box for the brother-in-law...five pipes and some tobacco blends I hope he'll like. Last time we were at their house, he remarked that he had misplaced his pipe; I told him I new where some were. He puffs on those American Sprit coffin nails all day long. At age 75, it's time for a change, but all you can do is try. Never quit quitting. Cliche but true. In a few days, it will be two years since my last cigarette (good quality RYO at least). I’ve been pipe only since and haven’t looked back. It wasn’t my first try. I haven't had a cigarette since March of 2011; I had a heart attack on Saturday morning without knowing, I thought I was coming down with something , worked all day...had a bar-b-que that evening with family, smoked throughout the whole day...Next morning at 4am I just couldn't go to work...went to the ER, and by 7am I had three stints...no more ciggs for me!!!

My quit was helped by a 4 night hospital stay for pneumonia complications. I had my last cigarette in the car while my wife drove me to the ER. I felt like death warmed over with tubes and monitors stuck in and to me. I felt so bad, I didn't notice te detox or any withdrawal. My method of quitting worked greatbut I don't recommend it.

Happy Friday, smoking Hal o’ the Wynd in a Ser Jacopo Rhodesian. Did my monthly coffee roasting session this morning, made a little lunch and now for a little relaxation before I throw a piece of pork belly on the smoker. It’s another perfect day here in South Jersey. I hope you all have a good one!

It's for making tomato sauce. You know, with meatballs and stuff. Hahaha. Is that still a no-go?

While reorganizing the tobacco cabinet today, I ran across two little tubs of Molto Dolce, and some later a wide mouth pt.jar...after jarring it up, I'm having what has to be my first taste of this blend; I say "has to be " because I'd surely remember this one if I ever smoked it. I'd almost pay someone to smoke this, and just stand near me, but there is something off-putting in the flavor of the first third of the bowl, that seems to melt away after that point. for me the flavor is like cane sugar and coconut, plus some strange sweet baked goodies that a distant aunt might bring to Thanksgiving Dinner. I wont reach for this when I need to taste tobacco, but I will reach for it. I'm only at the bottom of the first bowl and it's growing on me already.

Good Late Afternoon! It's 80° with a partly hazy sky and bright sunshine out here on the deck. Smoking a bowl of Limerick Flake in the Stanwell Silver Mount blasted billiard while listening to soft streaming music and there's a glass of cold water on the side. Have a great night everybody!

Finishing off the Molto Dolce in a Lorenzo second billiard, paired with an ice cold Miller Lite. They don't fit together too well, but I haven't had a beer in ages, and I'm rewarding myself for the fine job I did on the tobacco cabinet... If the wife were here she'd say " you drinking another beer? ", and I'd be like " you're right, I just had one in March...what was I thinking?"...she's at her sister's , sewing on something, and delivering the pipe care package to my Brother-in-law.

It's for making tomato sauce. You know, with meatballs and stuff. Hahaha. Is that still a no-go? I can do spaghetti sauce if there are not chunks of solid tomato and there's enough herbs and spices. If it’s a tomatoey tasting sauce it's a no-go. I have trained my wife to only buy Ragu Old World Original. That one works fine for me. Before anyone asks… for pizza, I either go with light on the sauce or preferably a ranch or Alfredo option for sauce.

I used to smoke a lot of Molto Dolce. I've probably smoked 5 tins. I just drifted away more in the direction of Bengal Slices. Anyway, milk is excellent with it.

Smoking some amphora burley blend in my pauls cayuga pipe. On the drive home my transfer case decided to spit out my front axle going 55mph and it ripped my power wire to my rear lights. that'll sure make the exit pucker.. Luckily it didnt blow up the transfer case or anything catastrophic. Now I gotta take it off and fix that. Atleast it's driveable with out the front drive shaft in.
