I have an appliance repair project. Require 1/4 inch drive sockets for access. My 1/4 inch drive sockets and rachets were spread into three locations. So, I never have the right tool when needed. Consolidated them into their own tool box and discovered so many missing. This is what happens when other people have access to one's tools. No more of that! Now ordering several metric and ASE replacement sockets, a ratchet and a breaker bar. So much for generosity!

A pet peeve of mine.
My son is fortunate to be among the living, I really blew my stack when my new super sawzall and the metal case were left at a buddys house making subwoofer boxes.
I still get pissed thinking about it.

I always had tools, good tools, never lent, I denied myself to buy them, told would be borrowers , Deniy yourself. Sounds mean I know, but I’ve still got my tools, finally gave them to my oldest son. I pay a mechanic now.

That's a shame. New tools are fun, though.

So I ordered two sockets and one breaker bar from Amazon. They just sent me an email the order will be divided into three packages from different locations. Now, I do not pay shipping being a Prime subscriber, I have to wonder how this guy Bezos made any money in this business. Can you imagine shipping one socket? I can't wait to see the giant package it arrives in.

I still get pissed thinking about it. Just to add… it always seemed the lone socket I needed was lost, no CSI needed, my daughters never turned a wrench other than how to change a tire with a 4-way. My son perfected the art of strategically denying me of needed sockets. I think he is paying the dues now… whenever I mention that I need something he sends it on. I received the trailer wiring packet today for my truck after mentioning I needed one… plug and play. I never took a tool from a company mechanics box without approval, pretty much a cardinal sin to do so.

I have several sets of every kind of wrench that I can never find! But it's my fault. I'm usually so tired by the time I finish a project I just throw the tools in a box to put away later. I probably have 50+ boxes of assorted tools.

I am quite capable of losing tools with no help at all.

My Oldest Son is quite the mechanic, while changeing oil in my Cherokee Chief, unknowingly at 4 he was watching me, he put a socket in a frame hole, for months when I stopped I had a rolling noise, baffled me, finally I got my retractable magnet went under the jeep and Viola pulled out a socket out the frame. I had to watch him he wanted to fix things, next I caught him unscrewing the plate off the gas meter counter, he was dangerous.😝

I thought, "Well, this is promising, a chip off the old block!". Unfortunately, he hasn't picked up a tool in the past 34 years. ☹️ Josh's 12 year old son changes the oil on his dad's truck and other repairs. Josh is so proud he just goes ahead and bursts every day.

This is what happens when other people have access to one's tools. Asking to borrow someone's tools is generally frowned upon in this region. Our work~trade tools are sacred; even asking is forbidden.

Few but fools, loan their tools.
I read this quote in an old Farmer's Almanac.
Never forgot it.
Rarely followed it.
No good deed goes unpunished.

I never loaned any tools except in an emergency where it doesn't matter. Considered the tools lost at the time. None were my best tools.

Hoping UPS will deliver the package today, Jesus could not find it in the van on Friday. Jesus is our route driver and a nicer young man I could not know. The package contains two 1/4 drive sockets. So it is likely teeny tiny and easily lost. UPS Central Control is blaming me saying on line my address is wrong so they cannot deliver. Same address they delivered to for 25 years. I got to love these corporations.
