The morning began with Milan's Triple Crown in the Pete XL90, followed that with Sutliff's Toasted Burley in the Brebbia apple, coffee with both.

Good Afternoon! It's 50° here with a mostly clear sky and bright sunshine. I'm in the workshop again and covered the front wall vent to keep out the cold air. Currently smoking a bowl of Wessex Brown VA Flake in the MM General cobwarden and there's a bottle of cold water on the side. Have a great evening everybody!

Finished work for the day a little while ago. I'm inside, relaxing in my chair, in front of the tube. Having a bowl of Riverboat Gambler in the Tuesday cob. Next move, maybe a snoozie.

I’ve been on a Mac Baren Navy Flake bender and it’s continuing right now in a Georg Jensen Gigant.

In the end when I got on the chat he was usually the only one on the chat. He slowed down a lot this spring and summer I do not stay up late enough to catch him.

I bought a 1# brick of Night train from 2016 that had come from Rande Reed's estate that was donated to the Arizona Pipe Club. We all ended up with fantastic additions to our cellars, but on the same day of distributing it all we found out a charter member had passed. All that he ended up with as his portion was set aside, and many members donated to that pile and sold to raise money for his widow. Spartacus handled all of that part of it.... Anyways...he saw that a brick of Night train that was in very robust Cryovac, it was obvious air had gotten to it, so he vacuum sealed it. I slowly rehydrated it, and it has not missed a beat, it has gained rail cred...it smokes beautifully, and smooth! In a Don Warren Freehand.

Yeah, he was running down pretty quickly this spring and summer. His hands were shaking a lot and he couldn't stay awake for very long at a stretch. It got to where when he could only hang around in the chat a little while. By the time I would sign in, he was either already gone or could only stay awake a little while. Toward the end, his sign off got to be, "Running out of awake . . . ED OUT" instead of his usual announcement of the newspaper's arrival.
It was sad to watch.

I'm breaking in the new Nording with some of Russ's Limerick Flake, but it really isn't wanting to burn, for some reason:

Yeah, I am not on the chats much, but I saw the same on the forum. Ed had a good run, and I think he would like us celebrating his life rather than sorrowing over the loss. And Urb...I do not mean to insinuate your post came across that way, just an observation of a man that had a life well lived...life was winding down for him and he knew it and communicated it to us...I certainly saw it.
