Happy Saturday! Up early to help friends with a project. Had a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Saturday cob while driving. Coffee accompanied. At home, on the back porch, another bowl of Haunted Bookshop in the Saturday cob and more coffee. Deciding on what I'll do here. It's 50, sunny, with a light breeze. Good day to be outside.

Someone kindly sent me a sample of the 2024 special edition Kopp Flame 1919 to check out among some other great picks. I wanted to try this first while it’s still available in case I wanted to grab a tin or two. I’m smoking it in a BC calabash.

Made a Home Depot run to buy manure for the existing garden boxes and lumber for the new garden box. Had a bowl of Friar's Bayou for the drive. Taking a break from building the new box to have another bowl of Friar's Bayou in the Saturday cob.

HU Indaba in a Let Freedom Ring 5th Ave cob. Laudisi is the US distributor so it makes sense SmokingPipes have the cheapest average prices for the blends. Tin says blended in Germany, packaged in the US. They are the tall 100 gram twist top tins, so not sure who’s packaging these. They’ve got the same yellow date stickers on the bottom as C&D so I assume it’s C&D and someone is supplying them with these tins.

I used to Put my Peter Heinrich's Curly block sticks in large 1/2-gallon jars. For some time (a few years), I could not find them jars and I was pretty bummed! At $75 per 8oz. stick X 5 sticks anyone would be. Currently going through the stash, I came across a cardboard flat of 16oz. wide mouth jars...at some point I cut them down to fit into smaller jars...Christmas in November. So, smoking some CB from 2016 in a Christmas Pete 999 Now made by STG and sold as Wessex Curly Block.

I’m on my third bowl of Kopp Flame 1919 and probably my last for this evening of this, I’m kind of feeling a bit of Billy Budd later.
It’s definitely not a bad smoke and I’m glad I got to try it.

Good Sunday Morning! It's 36° here with a clear, starry sky. This afternoon I have documents to scan, some phone calls to make, laundry to do, etc. Getting the smoking day going with a bowl of HH Pure VA Flake in the Amorelli smooth bent Three Star and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee tucked underneath my jacket. Have a good one everybody!

The first Hellenic Air Force "Kamikaze" pilotsSergeant Grigorios Valkanas, 18 November 1940 During an air combat with italian bombers and pursuit aircrafts and after run out of his ammunition, he noticed that an enemy aircraft had escaped and was heading towards city of Korytsa to bomb the Greek positions. With sacrifice and trying with suicidal way to prevent this like the Spartans in Thermopylae, he fell onto the enemy aircraft and together with it he fell to the ground and was killed. Lieutenant Colonel Marinos Mitralexis , 2 November 1940 During the air battles found that his ammunition was saved he saw that an italian bomber was heading to bomb civilians in Thessaloniki, he swarm to it and with his engine propeller hit it's the tail and shot it down. Despite the serious damage suffered by the propeller of his plane, he managed to land it in a field, at the point where the crew of the downed Italian bomber had landed with their parachutes a little earlier. Immediately asked the villagers where they were then drew his revolver and he arrested 3 of them (the pilot had been killed in the crash). During the German occupation, he escaped to the Middle East, where he continued his military activity but unfortunately was killed in action due to engine failure in 1948 in the Aegean sea. I am smoking Torben Dansk Black Cavendish (ohne flavour) in a Fallion, double Greek coffee beside me.
