I tried chewing tobacco once when I was in my teens.I hated it so I've never tried it again.Today I was sitting on my porch smoking a bowl of Penzance The thought came to mind that If I did chew tobacco Penzance is what I would want it to taste like.

one day I was in a shop the person behind encounter and I was talking about different tobacco. He told me if I wanted to know what the tobacco tasted like I should take a small pinch and chew on it for a couple of minutes. I did that and found that was a good tasting tobacco so I bought a tin. This man has been in the business for not than 30 years. He also said with all the tobacco he sells he couldn't smoke them all. So by chewing a small pinch he could sample the tobacco at his measure and have a good understanding of each blend.

I chewed some McClelland #24 the other night when I ran out of Copenhagen. Tasted sweet and sour - must be the McClelland vinegar. Needless to say I went to the store for more Cope after about 5 minutes.

I used to chew Red Man while I played golf. Spitting on my playing partner's ball while he was putting was great fun.......for me.

My uncle Mark could spit like the Outlaw Josey Wales, but his trajectory left a lot to be desired when he borrowed the folks Bel-Air, I got stuck cleaning the white roof when he returned it. Looking at his nasty teeth prevented me from ever trying chew.... must be a heck of a nic-hit.

I always wondered why the pipe tobacco guys don't have the chewing tobacco guys make their plugs. Seems like a good fit to me.

You might want to try some Mastic Chewing Gum (available online) ... I just picked some up for snuff making from Amazon.

I like chewing tobacco, still chew Red Man when mowing. One particular brand that I used to chew was called Black Maria Plug, but like so many other things, the makers stopped producing it.

Got sick on Redman once as a teenager. Never touched it again. Beechnut once in a while or Day's Work plug when I was young. Never could stand any of the canned dips. I do occasionnaly taste my pipe tobacco for a minute or two. Me and some buddies worked at a Texaco in high school. One day we scraped the top of an oily masonite workbench and replaced the contents of a friend's Copenhagen tin with the oily scrapings. Always wondered how that played out. I didn't get to see him dip out of the tin before he went home that day.

I chewed Beechnut Wintergreen for a short while back in high school. I started to like it too much, so quit. However, on the rare occasions that I see it for sale, I still get a slight urge to buy some.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. Ropes are meant to be chewed or smoked I think. I'd be willing to give it a shot.

I chewed some Brown Bogie when I got it. Just had to try it. I wasnt disappointed. I quit chewing tobacco and dipping years ago. I spent well over 5k on my mouth in the last year, so chewing my pipe tobacco is not very often.
I used to like Red Man with the green label once in a while. Levi Garrett or Bowie were also good. I miss it once in a while, but then I remember the dentist bills.

Gawith Hoggarth & Co. Ropes are meant to be chewed or smoked I think. I'd be willing to give it a shot. They are pretty tasty, but I wasn't prepared for the nic rush. Talking to an old timer in Scranton PA he said as a kid his father would buy a rope, chew it in the coal mine during the day, take it home and dry it to put in his pipe, then grind the dottle and ashes as snuff. I don't know how much of tall tale that is, but there is probably a germ of truth in there somewhere. I know some people who smoke Cotton Boll. They swear it is the strongest thing you could possibly put in a pipe. I don't mind strong blends but I am not a masochist either.

In the early 1970s I chewed Brown Mule and Day's Work. Got the habit from two old Rodeo hands out of Oklahoma with whom I worked. Jumbo Tucker and Al G. Little ("Algae").
Enjoyed it well enough. When I returned to town, it seemed I had become too rusticated for politce society and was relegated to the back lots.

Anyone who has never read the reviews of Cotton Boll twist should head over to tobaccoreviews and look. It's pretty hilarious.
