My two favorite reviewers. I value the opinions of both highly.

Jim is always a great resource for all of us. 12 Bowls a day? Wow, not too shabby either....

12 bowls on a day he isn't feeling well. Hats off Jim, well deserved recognition.

The pic doesn't show it...but Jim's neck is actually mortar and bricks and requires a monthly chimney sweep.

I've never met him, yet, but have learned more about tobacco from Jim than any other source. His reviews are the most trustworthy. We're extremely fortunate to have him here.

LoL I had no idea that was Jim, I thought he was one of D&R's sales reps! That was a good show report and that I was mentioned with some of the big hitters in the hobby was a surprise. I was at private show and tell Sunday afternoon with the guys he's talking about that is a highlight of the show every year. You just don't ever see these incredible pieces everyday or in some lifetimes. Pipes like these rarely make an update or a tabletop. I selected five of the Castello's Steve brought up for Richard and I to inspect and put dibs on. Steve's a good guy but stuck in a hard place with this but he and the owner know I will treasure these pipes and that counts some in this hobby. This collection has been on my radar for for almost thirty years now and two must have pipes that I was expecting to see were not there but I have hope they will surface before to long. I'm waiting on prices and will see how many of the five I picked make it into the collection. Other than that, this was my 20th CPCC show and I had a great weekend but after four full days I was ready to head home but here's everything I came home with.

I was working Mark Ryan's tables. He brought me to the show for that.

I selected five of the Castello's Steve brought up for Richard and I to inspect and put dibs on. I felt a sigh of relief when I unloaded the only Castello, 4K Sea Rock, I've ever owned onto another. Extremely overpriced, don't smoke better than others more reasonably priced and provide no value whatsoever. If somebody has a few C-notes which aren't doing anything, they'd be better served purchasing silver at its current price and MM meerschaums than a Castello IMHO.

I loved reading this article and then going to Pipestuds page and looking at all the old tins of tobacco. Thanks for posting this up for us.

Right now, that one pound tin is sitting on top of my entertainment center so I can glory in owning it until it's opening time.

Wonder if it's better than current production, the 1970 EGR. I'd heard the old one wasn't rated as highly, but will be waiting to hear your review.
