Pop a tin of Escudo. Trust me and many others when I say it is a wonderful tobacco.

That slight staining of the paper says that it has age ...I popped a 3 year old tin recently, it was veeeeery good the rest of the cellar will be ready in another 3 years or so. I have 9 tins from 2014, five from 2015.Brian Levine did a test of several years of aged Escudo, and it was his opinion that after 7 years the Perique starts to lose it's "punch"...7 years was the sweet spot....If I remember correctly.

Good to have you back man. Just curious - Is it a VaPer thing in general or do others in the genre suit your palate better?

I prefer the blends where the Perique is fruity rather than spicy.

As I've mentioned here in the past month I was trying Escudo and DH Navy rolls for the first time. After a half tin of each, I'm leaning to the DH, but the Escudo has a place in my rotation

Don't tell my Chinese buyer that. Unfortunately I don't like it and a short time ago I sold a wrapped sleeve of the Peterson painted tin era Escudo for a big profit.

for a big profit. Those painted tins are a high ticket item for sure.

Sounds like a pretty well mixed opinion so far. Aged Bullseye Luxury Flake and Dan's Roper Roundels take a lead for me over Escudo.

The Bullseye flake is definitely a different animal than when fresh...I still enjoy it fresh, but now that I have some with age on it, it only makes sense to pick up some annualy when the Stokkebye products go on sale...even at regular price though, it is a bargain.

I have never had the Peterson vintage, has STG done as good of a job on the current recipe?

I have had the Cope, Peterson and STG. I think they are all very close and all very good. I may be wrong here but I recall someone posting somewhere that the original equipment has made its way along each company takeover.

Sage advice here nobody will regret.

Escudo is GOOD! Every smoker should however also give Davidoff's Flake Medallions a try too. Tasty stuff!
