Now I know I have truly bad PAD. I am at a gun collector's show, surrounded by thousands of vintage firearms and instead of considering various guns to buy, I am looking at a bunch of restored estate pipes.

Good for you, Don. You can open carry pipes. Only if you are smoking weed. In Denver.

Just heading out for one final day at the show. Hoping to do a little trading with the pipe restoration guy. Maybe pick up 3-4 estates I have my eye on. I will post pics if I do.

Got highjacked at one Gun show a long time ago. Brought the wife and thought there's nothing she would want in here. Felt a tap On my shoulder, she says I just saw the prettiest ring. Well she got it and yes it was pretty, man at ring station was a genius.

Those places are dangerous for me: if I ain't broke when I'm walking in, I will be when I'm walking out, and I don't even have to buy a gun.

We have some phenomenal gun shows here in Arizona, the biggest one always happens in early December, the SAR (small arms review) show. If you have the coin you can buy a Ma Deuce Browning mounted on a Hummer and below. Some of the best deals are on the local classifieds, Arizonashooting gun forum has yielded some great deals, and I can personally consult with some of the best gunsmiths in the world.

A few years back I bought a Colt LE6920 SOCOM, and a week later I won a Colt LE 6900 in a raffle..the 6900 was Colt licensing out their name to Anderson manufacturing, it was an ok rifle but it didn't have the Colt proofing marks that only come through the Colt factory in Hartford CT. At the time it MSRP'ed at about $800 bucks, and came with no sights. Colt was trying to compete with the budget A/R's which now are really cheap, and they now dropped that line. 6900:
Some guy on the forum I had mentioned that had bought a $1,300 trijicon ACOG NIB wanted it, and traded from me at the hand-off in the gun shop, now with the Chevron reticle it is boringly easy to shoot an egg at 300 yards, I haven't had the chance to stretch it out any further. The surefire light came off my son's M4 he carried in Afhanistan. The Trijicon 4x32 still sells for $1,100 and change on Amazon, I doubt that I could sell the budget "Colt" for $500, even if I had never fired it...but then again due to the quirky nature, scarcity in the future of a discontinued model might drive the price up, but I doubt it would ever beat the trade that I made.

So, I ended up trading some pipes that didn't suit me for four that I really like a lot. Tony Maddox does awesome restoration work. Everything I saw on his table was expertly restored. He had some really nice pipes. One of these is a Custombilt. There is a Nording amongst the sccops and bullcap. Tony is up in Wyoming and I will post his contact info/website later if admin says it is ok.

Oh, I like the Bullcap in the background! Thanks Frank. I think it is probably a Custombilt, but it has no discernable markings. All three of those squat pipes grabbed my attention immediately. I find that I enjoy that type of pipe more and more.
