So, I'm only about 44 posts away from being a Senior Member (I think being a "Member" is kind of dull, but that is just me) so I'm asking you guys to help me get those last posts in and reach my goal of being a Senior Member by asking me questions about myself. If there was anything you ever wanted to know and haven't found out yet just ask! (keep it tasteful, though, fellas, lol) Have questions about my pipe and tobacco preferences (probably not, lol) or about where I live, where I grew up, my hobbies other than pipes or just about WV in general, whatever, just pelt me with questions, I like answering questions (when I have the answers )

I wouldn't want to join any club that would have me as a "member". Have you tried any of the Newminster #403 Superior Round Slices? You seem to enjoy a scooch of DFK and they are tasty little rounds.

Hi Margaret There are a lot of people around WV whose ancestors came from Ulster the province in Ireland I come from what about yourself do you know of any of yours came from here originally.
Great question! Yes, WV is highly populated with Scotch-Irish and a few Germans, I believe it is the topography that attracted them. My great-grandmother was a Kincaid, so we have fixated on that part of the family. My mother did a lot of research, and you can't always trust everything you come across. However, the story is that we are descended from one of five Kincaid brothers who escaped to America while enroute to the Tower of London due to their participation at Culloden (I think that's the right skirmish). Their father had been a pharmicist in Edinburgh. We are members of the Kincaid Clan Association in North America and my mother is the WV Comissioner.
The interesting bit is that my great-grandmother, the Kincaid, married a Zickafoose -- he lived on a neighboring farm in Fayette Co., WV.
Another interesting tidbit is the Kincaid Crest. It has a castle with an arm and a sword. This was awarded to an ancestor when he defended Edinburgh Castle and was made Constable of the Castle. Our motto is "This I'll Defend" My husband was a drill sergeant when I married him and the drill sergeant badge has a castle on it and the motto is "This We'll Defend" I haven't been able to trace it yet, but I suspect a Kincaid was behind the design of that insignia.

Come on, gents, I only have 23 more posts to go, help a gal out! I'll give ya a freebie to show my OCD, lol. In first grade we were assigned desks and we each got our own textbooks to keep in our desks as well as a pencil and a box of 8 Crayola crayons. The box was flat with a lid that lifted straight off. That box was my pride and joy, as I loved to color. The order the crayons were in the first time I lifted off the lid was the exact order they stayed in for the remainder of the year. When my crayons wore down I would carefully tear off just a bit of wrapper completely even all the way around. Other kids were very careless with their crayons and would drop and break them or tear the wrappers off completely. Some even lost some. Occasionally someone sitting next to me would ask to borrow one of my crayons, and I was a friendly child and would let them, but if they did not put the crayon back in the exact same spot it came from borrowing privileges were instantly revoked, lol. I will admit that my desk, however, was a complete mess, so obviously my OCD is selective and extends toward artistic/creative side of my nature

I believe they were, and legend has it that Daniel Boone hid from some Indians in a cave nearby -- we even have a park named for him near where the location was supposed to be and it's just about 4 miles from my house, but I have doubts about the validity of that tale....

Be careful what you wish for; now you're just an old member. I may have only a quarter of your posts, but I'm sure all have been of the highest quality, and have enriched the lives and experiences of all who've read them.
