After watching a lot of Brakners go for more than I could afford, I got one!

Congrats! What do you like most about Brakner pipes? The rustication. It is a bit different if you look closely at it. They are also excellent smokers and classic Danish pipes. Somewhat collectable. Older. May be the start of a collection. Still trying to pick up an Arley Curtz pipe.

Thanks guys, I am looking forward to it. And a pipe from Ron should be here Tuesday. Christmas in May.

Very nice ... a quick read tells me he developed this special "micro-rustication" technique and held it quite secret. Sounds like he was a big part of the Danish pipe making scene and in cahoots with the top dogs. Congrats again and, hopefully, we'll see more of these as you build your collection.
BTW, how often do they get an Arley pipe in the shop there and what is the price range?

Concerning Curtz pipes, I have yet to see one at Edwards, since becoming aware of his work. I do look when I go in. I should tell them to call me if they get one. They used to carry them new when he was still active.

Darin,
Everytime I see your Avatar I think of Lancelot link, Secret Chimp...he was a pipe smoker, but the Pinterest pic won't allow me to hotlink it.
I am pretty sure that after a night of purple microdot, panama red, and Wild Turkey, my older brother woke up next to the blonde tambourine player.

That would make at least two of us then ... ah, the good old days!
