Just ordered The Pipe Book, A Guide to Nearly Every Pipe Created, by Alfred Dunhill. I think it's a 'like new' copy. Got it on Amazon. Kept hearing people say it's a staple in every pipe collectors library, so I am interested in reading it. Anyone read it?

Finishing up Mother Earth Night by John Perry Barlow. Next up is Skunk Works: A Personal Memoir of My Years of Lockheed by Ben Rich (while I wait for The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe to arrive) I've read both(Skunk Works and The Right Stuff). Both great reads, though the To Wolfe feels very different go the movie! You might also enjoy Yeager by,well Chuck Yeager. What was a revelation was his career after test flying

Getting after Marcus Aurelius's *Meditations.* I'm a philosophy noob, but I'm slowly working my way forward in it.

...reading Black Elk Speaks by John G. Neihardt...I've read excerpts over the years but now have the hardcover full edition...
Excellent. I read it at least once a year.
I just put a request in for this from my library. It will probably take a month to make its way here, but I'm quite interested in reading it.
It is called "Black Elk speaks : being the life story of a holy man of the Oglala Sioux", which I assume is the same as above.
(I keep a rolling queue of books coming in from our library system)
They also have "The Sixth Grandfather" which I believe consist of the original transcripts. I may request that, afterwards.

I like the ideas in the book. More of our leaders should read this, but I don't believe that his philosophy would be understood by our current political leaders.

I've also read some of Seneca's letters, which are just fantastic. His consolation to his mother is one of the best examples of practical philosophy that I've ever seen. Highly recommended.

Two great books and a just for fun one:
The Witches of St. Petersburg by Imogene Eswards-Jones, about power and magic of women during the time of the revolution. Wow. Great writing about an intriguing and dangerous time in history
The Lost Girls Of Paris by Pam Jenoff, story about three young girls in the French resistance. Oh my, and this really happened.
The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, a collection of stories by Stephen King. The stories do not disappoint, and to the extent that you like what Stephen King does, you will like these stories which do what King does best. Page after page after page.

There are some pretty strange books out there. Reading one call Necrotourists. It's about a group of undead who get bored and decide to tour the world. Highly amusing if you are into this kind of genre. 🙂

I am starting to reread (for who knows how many times) all of Louis L'Amour's westerns. They are simple reads, but very interesting.

David Weber has a series called "Safehold" that begins with Arrmeggedon Reef. I enjoyed the series very much and I read all of them and thought it was done, but surprise surprise he wrote another book and I started it last night after finishing "The Riders Of the Purple Sage"
