I just added In Defense of Sanity and Orthodoxy to the Kindle. Orthodoxy is a great read as well. Enjoy. I’ve read Orthodoxy and The Everlasting Man. Both are impressive. Chesterton was brilliant.

Just ordered Ian Irvine's two latest, so now it's time to start rereading the View From The Mirror quartet. Tonight I start book one, A Shadow on the Glass.
If you guys like fantasy, and you've never heard of this series, give it shot, they are fantastic.

America as a Civilization Vol. 2 by Max Lerner printed in 1966 I used this in teaching my Psychology and Sociology classes in High School...still a good read but a little dated.

I just learned that Hillary Mantel's third installment in the Thomas Cromwell series is now out. The Mirror and the Light. This was the book series made into the film production "Wolf Hall" shown on PBS Masterpiece.
It is a little pricey so I will wait for re-sales, thrifty reader that I am.

The Fought Alone by John Keats.. the story of Wendell Fertig an American army Lt. Col that did not follow surrender orders when the Philippines fell. After promoting himself to Brigider General he managed to build an army of 25K -35K guerillas to harass the Japanese. He has been credited with diverting several hundreds of thousands of Japanese soldiers from other areas of the Pacific Theater to hunt him down. Fertig also managed to create a shadow government that had a working economy and a criminal justice system. Fertig also managed to end tribal fighting among the various indigious people of the island (Mindino) and other islands of the Philippines and unite them against the Japanese. The events in the book are true from Fertig's point of view while the author had to fictionalized what the Japanese thought before their response to Fertig's actions. The book was written using Fertig's own diaries and the reader can get a very good feel of what was going through his mind the whole time. The book was written in 1963 and can still be a page turner today. 4.5/5 stars. The book also delves into the ego of General Douglas MacCarther in a way many will find surprising. I have one more on the way as well and can't wait to read and review!

Finishing Matthew Pearl's _Dante Chamber_.
Starting Joseph Leconte's _A Hobbit, A Wardrobe, and a Great War_. I don't know how it is yet, but the subject matter might appeal to some folks here.

Just finished a book called "The End of the World, a Collection of tales of the Apocalypse". A lot of old stories about different scenerios from the 50s thru the 70s. Some were not so good, but some were excellent.

Was coming home from work, radio came on and said we were bombing Sadam, pulled my truck over and quietly cried, knowing my family was in a world of hurt.

"The Growth of the American Republic" Vol. 1 by Morison and Commager...used this 2 volume classic to teach History in 1968. Never read it through and decided now was a good time to start from beginning to end. 830 pages each in both books...gonna be here awhile.

Catching up on Victor David Hanson’s columns today. He is an intellectual that can hold his own with anyone, but being a farmer that intellect is also informed by common sense, and he can relate to the common man, very brilliant.

Henry VIII is till King. Anne Boleyn and Thomas More are gone. The final saga of one of England's most infamous self-made men.

My collage age has talked me into ready something called a Japenese manga. Specifically one call "I reincarnated as a slime". Apparently it is quite popular. I think I am going to need a large pipe of something strong and large drink to go with this. Who knows.

Not my thing, but there are a lot of interesting storytelling methods in them.

I just finished the first three books of the "Old Man's War" series by John Scalzi. They were very good. I wanted something different so I grabbed a western with supernatural overtones and it's much better than I expected. "Make me no Grave".
