17% into Armageddon Reef by David Weber. Chapter 5 I think. Having trouble getting into it. Too much back story, little of the "present story", so far.

The Amber Chronicles is something I can read over and over again. I read those stories when I was about 13. I may have to dig out a copy and read it again.

The Amber Chronicles is something I can read over and over again. I liked that series and it has been a few years. It may be time for a reread.

Seems like lately I am finding it harder to find books I feel like reading. Think I am going to re-read the Hobbit. 😀

I'm indulging myself in a guilty pleasure: I'm working my way through the Harry Potter series. Yeah....I know kids' stuff. Well written though.
And for serious reading, "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle.

I saw an interesting coffee table book in the background of a picture I saw on line.
It was The Pipes Of Basil Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes, by Mark Irwin. I tried to get it from Amazon but it is currently and indefinitely unavailable.
I poked around some other book sites and cannot find anywhere to purchase a copy.
Does anyone have any great ideas? It looks like it would be a wonderful book for my smoking table.

Toas Lightning, book about a horse race in 1880s from Galveston Texas to New England, 15 yr old boy takes his Dads place in race after his Dad has an accident that costs him his arm. Change of pace for me, reminds me of Hidalgo movie, enjoying it.

Robert Crais's Suspect...K-9 handler and his dog...all of Crais's books are good...this one in particular as it is about a K-9 dog that was shot up in Afghanistan, came home to be a K-9 dog with a handler that had been shot multiple times...both re-learn to trust.

Mansions of Misery, A Biography of the Marshalsea Debtors' Prison. By Jerry White, who is a historian that writes about London.
The prison was made famous in Dickens' novels, like Little Dorrit and Pickwick Papers, and most recently in a great adventure (kinda) novel, "The Devil in the Marshalsea" by Antonia Hodgeson.
Despite its dreary subject, I cannot put this book down. I was kind of familiar with the prison from Dickens and after reading Antonia Hodgeson's book last year I started to google around and found this book.
It really is the kind of book you will love if you love this kind of book.
It seems to me the stopping places in this book correspond exactly to finishing two large bowled pipes smoked slowly. How the heck did they do that.

I am listening to an audio book. The complete Sherlock Holmes. Just wonderful. I sampled several authors and settled on Stephen Fry. Amazing reading, and some insightful introductions.

Something very different for me, The Red Address Book, a Swedish woman chronicles her life, as she gets older I empathize that I am getting older, you think about people you know, lot of What If pauses, it resonated with me, very sad in the end.
