Nostradamus - have never actually read his stuff before. However, copy I have has no notations, so I don't recognize a lot of names. Jamus Inkus did stand out, though. Something to do with the death of Pope Archifus

I finally landed in abebooks a used but decent copy of Mika Waltari's The Egyptian, which I probably should have read decades ago but didn't when I learned that the English translation was an abridgement of the original Finnish (apparently American publishers were afraid that people wouldn't "Finnish" an unabridged version). I will soon learn if I missed something all those years ago or if my smart sense was working right all the time, until recently. I read the book recently because I have loved the movie since I was a kid, good book book, but mine wasn't abridged and I think I would be better if it was. There's a sequel but the word is that it is as bad as the first one was good. The prose style is really nice. That might have been lost in an abridged version. Just looked for my copy and it seems it must be a victim of a move, or a flood. Pretty common title to replace, though.

I have gone lowbrow and am re-reading a 1970s Cthulhu mythos novel by Brian Lumley, The Burrowers Beneath. I had it as a teenager and picked it up again for nostalgic reasons. Pretty poor, but kind of fun anyway.

"Alone", Michael Korda.
The events of 1940. Excellent account of the battle for Belgium and France. Much I did not know. Korda was a child but recalls personal stories of his Theater/Movie family in England during the period.

Just picked up Apathy And Other Small Victories by Paul Neilan. Never heard of him, but the title made me laugh.

Too bad about the part 2,universally panned and almost impossible to find. I think the first one is a complete story, though.

Something to do with the death of Pope Archifus I think it would make sense to get an annotated copy. It would make a lot more sense. Of course, the annotators are just guessing too.

My favorite translation of Nostrodamus is by Al Stewart from the Time Passages album. That's really as deep as I want to get into it.

I have one from the 1930s called How to Lose Friends and Alienate People. The title was shamelessly ripped off for a memoir and movie a few years back.

My reading is so low brow I am embarrassed to even post. But what the hell, you guys and girls can have a good laugh at my expense. I am currently reading Capture Death (The Kurtherian Gambit Book 20). I like sci fi and fantasy stuff.

I just revisited "The Good Earth" by Pearl S. Buck followed up with "Peony". Her books are like Chicken Soup: comforting, satisfying and remind me of simpler times.

Actually listening to only my second audiobook " Confessions of an Economic Hit Man". Fascinating to hear how we strong arm our way into other countries and get control. This is definitely in my top 3 books so far.

The Hitmans Guide to Housekeeping. I recently re-read this one and I think it would appeal to some of you guys more than me. Good book set in Iceland.
